So I see welding mask prices all over the place and cant figure out the differences. I own a Miller auto flash that cost me about $100 on Amazon. I bought Miller thinking it would be good quality, but from time to time it does not flash shut. It does it about 1 in every 50-100 welds, but I see a star for a day or two when it happens.
Not sure if something is not set right, or if I just need to clean it more often and better, but I am not sure the safest stuff to use to clean the lens. I have it just sensitive enough so it will not darken if I look at a light in my garage.
Other than that I am happy with it. When I do hours of welding I get soaked in sweat since the plastic it is made out of in no way deflects the heat. I don't think I will find a helmet in my price range that would do much better. Can someone explain these things to me though so I know why the prices are so high on some.
Also, what are considered the better masks, and why? And are there any I can go down to shade 5 with for my oxy setup? My current one only goes down to 7.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer.
