is there a round up of all the welding table builds, so someone researching can have all the links in one spot?

I'll jump in. Here's mine.

I'm happy to say since building it, I've seen elements borrowed from it right up to it being copied exactly.

I suppose here is as good a place as any.

I have a few welding tables I made that see regular use in my shop.

The first is my 48" x 120" x 1.25" top main table. I built this a few years ago to replace a similar table, but with some upgrades. I had the top blanchard ground, and its drilled 12" on center for hold down clamps. I also have a Kennedy toolbox and blueprint file under it for storage. There is a link in my signature for the build.

Photo of said table in my old shop.

Next is my "mobile" welding table. I made this one from all aluminum, and it is quite a bit smaller, 36" x 48" x .75" top. This table has a no holes in the top, and is light and easy to move around or take on a jobsite. I use this one a lot for small work, like small stainless parts or things where having the aluminum top would be beneficial.

Build is in my shop projects thread here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309378&page=9

I also have a small cast iron table I got as a pile of scrap, and repaired it into something useful. Its maybe 30" x 60" or so, its a bit of an odd size. Its also low, so its kind of handy for tall or awkward shaped weldments.

Lets see some tables!

Well here's my half finished table. All built from scrap materials I got for free. The legs are 5" x 5" x 3/8" tubing and the horizontal pieces are 3" x 4" x 3/8" tube. The top is 3ft x 7ft x 1/2" stainless. One of these days I'll finish it, I swear.

I bought a 2x3 Weldtables Certiflat top and built my own base. It has casters not shown in the photos. Good size for my small shop space. I've been really happy with it.

Here is my small bench that I built around materials I had on hand.

4x5' table top, MIG and TIG on bottom, gas bottles on back, drawers on both long sides, tig rods, gloves, and clamps above the drawers, and tungsten grinder on the side, along with mounts for other things (grinders, clamps, what not).

Don't really have a better photo of it, this was pretty close to how it ended up finally. I used it for a while and slowly added on more mounts and stuff.

here was a mini table/welding cart I made with a 3/8" plate top, small mac side box for consumables. holds the mig, tig, and plasma cutter and allows a small welding table top.

attachment.php

I don't have finished pics of this one.... Old machine frame I picked up for 25 bucks. had 4" leveling feet on it. added some 5" casters and a 1/2 top. I haven't gotten around yet to wiring up the box on the back to house the plugs for all the welders. I've added about 10 2" receivers around the edges for holding and storing different tools such as: Vise mount, pipe vise mount, grinder, second grinder with wire wheels, belt sander, engine stand, band saw mount, and about 5 others I can't remember at the moment.

Just finished this 1200+ lb monstrosity. Scrap H beams, 3/4" scrap top, 2 junkyard scissor jacks and 4 casters from my HF toolbox bench build.

Future plans are to rent a mag drill and drill a grid of 5/8" holes on 6" centers. This will also allow me to use bolts/shims to attach the top and pull it flat. Its close now but the H beams had a bit of twist in them that didn't show up until I had them all boxed together.

A bit messy as I'm in the middle of roughly 5 projects.

Thanks. The wight wasn't just overkill (although I'm all for overkill). I wanted to be able to mount a tubing bender, tubing roller, vice, or other equipment that requires rock solid anchoring to torque against. This way instead of filling up my undersized garage floor with lag bolts I can just attach equipment to the table and go nuts. It also means I can roll it into the driveway and then drop it back on its feet and work long pieces of tube without walls in my way.

I made a roll around stand base for my HF tubing roller and 16 ton bender. Works great. The bender can be set horizontal on that stand too.

Here’s mine
Top built from some T shaped elevator rails.
The small drawers fit 3 small boxes of welding rod each. Grinders are just held on a Z shaped piece of sheet metal. Added the quad recept box so I only need to plug it in and don’t need extension cords anymore.

The rails (top) were painted and it grounds fine so I see no need to strip it off for now.

Got the 1/2" plate as a drop from one of the local steel warehouses. It has a slight bend in it from when they sheared it. Drove a forklift on it to try and get some of the bend out... It didn't work.

Cad plasma cut the slots in it for clamping. Not sure I love them, but they're there now.

Aside from the 4 lockable eBay casters and receiver stock, the rest was scrap from a buddies shop.

The weld cart is a HF, that I just cut down to fit under under the area I left for a chair or stool. Ya, it's a little bottle, I know.

I wanted a copy of the one on the right. Almost did it... Almost.

I really like that table. Very cool (re)use of the old structural beams.

Quick question for you. What thickness material can you bend on that press brake, and what's it made from?

Have gone through a number of great threads here with examples and wanted to bump this one. Looking to build a 3x4" table, 40" tall, that will house by HF 26" tool chest underneath on one end. It is about 35" w/o casters.

I built this one mostly from steel supplier drops, and the 1/2" plate top came from a recycle place, where I found it badly rusted and laying in a mud puddle. I designed it around what I had to work with. Box is a display model box that Lowes sold for $40.

I installed 3 hitch receivers for easy on-off of bench vise, grinder, and bender. Height (and leveling) is adjustable with home-made jack-screw pads. Top is not welded to the frame; I drilled and counter-sunk the top, and installed with socket-head bolts.

I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. It get used a lot.

Hopefully the picture works.

I have had this base (free) sitting in the corner for a few years. It was something from a factory and is very square. I just got a piece to 30"x36"x3/4" plate ($50) to use for a top. Right now it is held in place by two clamps. I usually wheel it outside for welding but have done a little inside hanging around about an hour after the last weld is done.

Plan is to attach the top so it overhangs 3 sides and the one on the right is flush and square to the legs so I can clamp to them also. Need to get some receiver tube and make mounts for a vise and bench grinder. Other plans are a vice grip holder that the thumbscrews hang on. 1" sq tubing slotted I think it is (cool idea I saw here). Need to come up with some ideas to hang grinders and store electrodes.

There are some mighty nice tables shown here. I'm a little embarrassed to show my simple table. I made it over 25 years ago from a 1/2" plate, water pipe and a washing machine skin. It is nothing fancy at all, but I've been using it all these years and it serves my needs pretty well.

THANK YOU for the washing machine skin idea. I want something for 2 or 3 sides of my table and have been trying to come up with an inexpensive idea. Time to stop by the dumpster at the scrapyard and grab one.
