Finally into a 5,000 sq ft shop vs my old 900 and I wanted a nice welding table. I had a stainless kitchen prep table in the past and I am sure glad to have an upgrade!!

Before I could start I needed a steel rack. Had a simple up right rack I made for the old shop that sat along a wall. Don't have as many open walls now with tool boxes, benches, and tools so I needed a cart on casters.

Once that was done, cut out and assembled the base:

My floor guys said the floor coating was weld proof... They lied, burned up the new floor.

Added in a grinder rack along one side

Add 120 power boxes to the opposite corners so I can leave grinders plugged in and have extra outlets when needed.

Same thing with air

Next up are a bunch of ******* receivers for quick attachment mounts around the table

Had to flatten the table side

Gig and mounts got welded on. Made some nifty T bolts to add tension

THAT is one nice welding table! Congrats.

What's the story with the '54 Chevy truck in the background. (Hint: See my Avatar)

What size is it? Looks bigger than 4x8.

Any warping from welding the top to the table? Looks like alot of stitch welds. I've got my 900 lb 3/4 top just sitting on my table for now, I need to get around to attaching it.

Looks great!

Nice table...but those are **** castors. I had the same ones and they failed within weeks.

Learned a long time ago to use good casters...these are on my welding table and are about 50 bucks each. They won't flat spot, rated for 800 lbs each and can be greased...might want to think about it...that table will take a load and pounding.

I do like your top and the size..I Wish my shop had the room.

I have a reciever set up Too...I ended up using 3/4" threaded bolts in place of the reciever pins...so I could really tighten and keep vise and extensions from wobbling...

Its actually a 55 1st series (left over 54 body). Right now it is sitting on a K5 frame but in the process of swapping it onto a 4wd S10 frame with some LS power to make a good daily driver.

Casters are basic one from TSC. Actually not a fan of them, will be upgrading. Want swivel casters that lock out as well.

No warping. Took my time and bounced around the table to weld it on, its only 1/4".

You remember where you found them? That is something I plan to upgrade.

Thanks

Mine was a '55 first series too, but most people don't know about the first series, so I just say it's a '54.

OP...regarding the castors...

Amazon...I have tried several different types and have found these two to be the best around the shop...

RWM 47 5"...45$
E R Wagner locking...shown in the photo...5"...45$

Get the largest diameter you can...they have several plate sizes so figure out what works for you. The larger wheels roll over the concrete expansion joints or slab lip if you take the tool outside.

I have all my big tools, benches, dollies for boats and cars and tractor implements on castors. About once a year I roll everything out and hose the garage out and blow everything else off with air...clean shop for me to mess up.

Casters? Surplus Center! 12.95 for 800 lb. rated swivel caster, greasable, with brake.

Mark

Those could work...if your on a budget. The issue with those is the inner part of the tire...the hard plastic part. That may hold 800 lbs...but that plastic deteriorates...and will fail. I prefer the metal inners...as they can be hit with things...and if crashing over the lip of the garage won't fail...

Any more updates to this welding table? I'm building a table and trying to get a bunch of ideas before I decide!
