My well pump pressure has been sagging noticeably but once tthe pump came on, the pressure was good. I decided to replace the pressure switch yesterday. I should have taken a picture but the 1/4" x 3" pipe ripple between the manifold and pressure switch was completely clogged with rust and sediment. Since it was a brass ripple, I took a screwdriver and knocked out the crud and washed it. ****** was fine. Over the past 16 years, the sediment and iron in the water had collaborated to plug the passage to the pressure switch. After replacing the switch and gauge, I now have a properly functioning system. I guess well pump systems need a little PM every now and then. I'm sure people who do this work see this problem often, especially in the southeast.
