Well Pump Pressure Problem Solved

My well pump pressure has been sagging noticeably but once tthe pump came on, the pressure was good. I decided to replace the pressure switch yesterday. I should have taken a picture but the 1/4" x 3" pipe ripple between the manifold and pressure switch was completely clogged with rust and sediment. Since it was a brass ripple, I took a screwdriver and knocked out the crud and washed it. ****** was fine. Over the past 16 years, the sediment and iron in the water had collaborated to plug the passage to the pressure switch. After replacing the switch and gauge, I now have a properly functioning system. I guess well pump systems need a little PM every now and then. I'm sure people who do this work see this problem often, especially in the southeast.

I have come across that problem a couple of times, once the water in the ****** froze when single digit temps hit California over 30 years ago.

I had the same issue, About every five years I pop it off and clean the pipe out ( hasn't really needed it since the first time but I figured its easy to check ).

1990, lots and lots of frozen pipes. Around here 32F is pretty cold.
Ok, 89/90 winter. It was super cold in the Bay Area that year as well. We lost several trees, burst an irrigation pipe, and lots of businesses had damage.

They were rationing copper pipe couplings for a while because of the high demand for them.
