Today I want to show your some lifehack :)

I want to tell you about the blackening of tires with glycerin.

Yokohama BluEarth tires on my Mazda Familia made in Russia (I was amazed when readed it on the side of my new tire in last year (2017) :rocker:)
IMG_20170528_140431

I decided to conduct an experiment on this topic and we bought a few bottles of glycerin (glycerole) in the pharmacy (drugstore). The price of 1 bottle of glycerin 25gram (0.88 ounces) is about 25 cents * 4 bottles that will be 1 US dollar (100 rubles in Russia).

IMG_20170528_140415

We take 100 grams = 3.5 ounces of pure water and mixed with glycerin 100 grams (3.5 ounces),

IMG_20170528_140410

and sprinkled on the tires, allowed to soak the compound, now the tires shine steeper than the new ones :)
IMG_20170528_151644

After driving for about an hour on the highway under a torrential downpour, the coating is almost washed away by 50%, but as an option it will go because at a price much cheaper than professional trains for car tires in the same bottles (200 grams = 7 ounces). In dry weather, or if there is less water on the road than in Russia (drainage works well), the coverage will please you much more than us. For comparison, the professional composition is removed from the tires a little longer under the same operating conditions, and at a price of 3-4 times cheaper.

After experimenting on my Mazda, I rubbed all the tires in my Mazda parts warehouse because the buyer likes the prepared tires a lot more than the usual ones.

IMG_20170531_122252

Good luck! ;)

Hi!

I'll tell you about the last two weeks of my life :eyecrazy:
The end of April was very warm for our places +20 degrees Celsius. Spring began to show itself, the trees began to turn green.

IMG_20180429_122549

On the way to the garage, I photographed the UAZ prepared for driving off-road, but it had small wheels for ordinary roads.

Residential house of Sevastyanov manor. Krasnoyarsk, st. Karl Marx, 118.
Historical background: The building was built in the second half of the XIX century. The existing appearance of the house was obtained during the radical reconstruction with the superstructure of the second floor by the architect V.A. Sokolovsky in 1908. The residential building of the estate Sevastyanova occupies the corner of the block. On the manor there were preserved "houses of 2 floors. wooden, stone 2 fl. wing, 2 fl. a stone barn, two stone stalls, warehouses. " Architect: Sokolovsky Vladimir Alexandrovich. Description of the object: Sevastyanov's dwelling house is located in the historical center of Krasnoyarsk, it is included in the complex of wooden buildings at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. site of ul. Gorky, occupies the corner of the streets of Marx and Gorky. A two-storey wooden house, L-shaped in plan, with a deep basement (stone). The cut off corner facing the intersection is accented by a high scaled tent and bay window on the brackets. Above the front doors there are five-sided balconies on the brackets, the balcony doors are part of wide openings with a complicated pattern of bindings, including the outline of the circle. Above the balconies - figured through thread gables - turrets with spiers.

The center of Krasnoyarsk. Crossroads of Karl Marx street and Kirov street. In a yellow barrel on wheels, it says "KVAS", it is a national Russian drink made from bread by fermentation, it perfectly quenches thirst and is very useful for health. It is sold for bottling.

Monday morning May 7, 2018 was sunny with a strong wind. I arrived at the warehouse in a great mood. And by the dinner the black clouds flew sharply, it became cold and the snow fell with flakes. :headscrat
IMG_20180507_151618

I returned to Zheleznogorsk, on the way home on the highway, encountering a major accident involving about 5 cars, although the road was not slippery (I already put summer tires on the car). I went to the kindergarten for my son, it's fun to see white snow on the green grass.

That car looks like a modified ARO 243, a Romanian offroad car that no longer is made.

I want to congratulate everyone on the Great Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War!
In our country this is a special holiday, many of the relatives died on it, everyone remembers their feat. As it is sung in one of the songs - Victory Day is a holiday with tears in your eyes. Our grandparents did the impossible, they destroyed the fascist empire, gave us a peaceful sky over their heads! Thank them for their FEAT!
Unfortunately, today there was terrible weather until the evening and we did not go to the parade, but I will show you the 2015 parade (70 years of VICTORY).

About 30 million citizens of the USSR died in this war, let's honor their memory with a minute of silence!

I can't calmly write about it, because tears flow out of my eyes. Please forgive me for that.

Order of the PATRIOTIC WAR and the ribbon of Saint George

In our city we have a square of Victory in Great Patriotic War (World War 2). Every May 9, we celebrate the day of victory and honor the memory of those killed in the victory over fascism.

The parade began. Participants are broken down by the kinds of troops and organizations that they represent, usually infantry, pupils of the Academy for Emergency Situations, military patriotic club "Patriot" and others. In Moscow, the parade is more gradny there show all the branches of Russia. In our city everything is modest.

People with tablets are members of the action "Immortal Regiment". The tablets show photos of their relatives, participants of the Great Patriotic War. This tradition appeared several years ago and became very popular. Unfortunately, there were very few surviving veterans of those events.

Stas I sincerely appreciate you and your fellow countrymen Patriotism!!!

I am sadden by the fact here in the US I heard only one little blurb about VE Day.

We have lost touch with our Patriotic Duty to remember the sacrifice of all.

For the first time in US history we have a generation protesting to give up their rights.

My hat is off to you!!!

Our failure to honor the sacrifices of our countrymen in World War II is inexcusable but not surprising. History is taught in school as a punishment rather than enlightenment.

Russia suffered losses in World War II that are difficult to forget, when they lost 13.7% (26,600,000) of their population to the war and fought most of the war on their own land. The United States lost 0.32% (671,801) of its population and, aside from battles in the territories of Hawaii and Alaska, fought the war on foreign soil.

I am a veteran in my country (Canada) I too think of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. We must never forget them. I don't, although my roll was small I served my country with pride and I felt honored to do so. Different countries celebrate at different times of the year, but I attend each year and weep for those who gave their lives for freedom.

Thank you for Post #572

Great photos, and even greater sentiment.

I am a believer in patriotism too.

Today I want to present you an overview of the garage of my school friend Alexey (his bald head you saw in the photo before) :)

The bald head is very comfortable, woke up in the morning, rubbed it with a rag and went to work. :bounce:

He bought a garage a couple of months ago for 780 thousand rubles, at today's rate it is approximately - 12,600 US dollars.
In the same box, my father used to own a garage, but several years ago he sold it for about 1 million rubles (29,500 dollars - at the rate of that time).
Garages of a huge size, about 7 meters by 14 meters, ceiling height about 4 meters (by eye).
The garage has central water heating (pipes along the wall). The temperature inside the winter, even in the fiercest Siberian frosts is about + 12 degrees.

The walls are laid out of iron-concrete blocks. The roof is covered with iron-concrete slabs, and on top of them wooden logs and slate.

The garage door to the left is painted by the owner - Cadillac, as in the movie Nightmare on Elm Street, with Freddy Krueger in the lead role.

Photo through the front door.
Under the ceiling there is a steel channel with a winch
IMG_20180511_102212

We see the entrance to a technical room equal in area to the first floor.

IMG_20180511_102253

I went downstairs to the technical room. Almost one more garage just a floor below. Here usually store wheels and other important things, for example, school desks of the times of the USSR. It will be necessary to ask him where he got them. :lol_hitti

Alexey is a very handy guy, his hands are golden!:bowdown::bowdown: He designed the turntable for the engine to make it easier for him to overhaul the engine.
He has an old Honda Accord CF-4 body (from the domestic market of Japan, right-hand drive). He is already the third time changing the motor on it, all the time trying to improve it, in plans to assemble the turbo Honda. In the spring, he flew in a puddle on the road and his engine choked. This is a sad story, he had to buy himself another engine for 35,000 rubles (about $ 500). But since he is an optimist, it is not very upset him and now he drives as before. That's how the rods buckle when water gets into the cylinders. :3gears:

Still lower is the entrance to the cellar, where potatoes, carrots, beets are stored, as well as various pickles (salted or pickled cucumbers and tomatoes in jars, jam, compotes).
IMG_20180511_102441

In the garage is Honda Stream, which belongs to a relative of Alexey who crashed into the curb at the supermarket (last Monday, when there was snowfall, maybe he did not see it under the snow) and hid the radiator frame and broke 2 radiators. I brought him a radiator frame, a motor cooling radiator and an air conditioner radiator.

After I laid out all the spare parts, I decided to wash my Mazda, and at the same time photographed on the street Moskvich 2140 it's about the 1980s.

General view of the garage cooperative and one of its boxes. In these garages, about 30% of people are engaged in business, there are dry cleaners, tinted windows, car wrapping protective film, body polishing, body repair, suspension repair, engine repair and replacement, repair dents without painting, car dealers. These people work in their garages themselves and do not ask for anything from the state, except that the state does not touch them and do not climb to them.

I Secretly tell you, Batman lives in Siberia and he has his own garage here! :lol_hitti

Andy, I did not really understand your answer. What did you mean? I did not want to destroy (humbled) you with my answer on the forum. :headscrat

Sorry for the translation difficulty!

I was brought to a solemn moment remembering all the sacrifice of the Russian people during the war. As is the case most everywhere, we concentrate on our own history, and the good we have done for others. In doing that we forget the sacrifices of others in whom homeland the wars were fought. I was touched in my heart by your countrymen's sacrifice and the honor you still give to them.

My own father was a B-17 pilot but did not really have to sacrifice other than his time and fear of the unknown.

The shop of your friend is fantastic. The basement as we would call it is wonderful. And the chain hoist can be used to lower and retrieve heavy items from there if the chain is long enough. Thanks for the tour.

That's what you meant, now I understand. Too bad you don't speak Russian. :)
God forbid no one to know what war is, and even more so to participate in it.

Thanks for the garage tour. And, the listing of what typical businesses go on in other garages. Very interesting and creative of many people to make a living using their individual skills. I was amazed as your friends garage how it kept going down more levels. Quite a big space that way to open up below ground for other uses.

Oh, and send Batman back home. We have too much crime and need him here! I'm trying to find a new light bulb for the Bat spotlight now.

I am still not understanding how the garage is heated.
I understand the "pipes" give off heat, am I right?
If so, where is the boiler?
Or, maybe electric elements in the pipes that give off heat?
Does the city supply steam or hot water to all the residential garages and homes with a massive industrial heating building?
I remember you saying you heat your apartment with electricity so why don't they heat your apartment like they heat the garage?

That's a cool garage! Even the pit has it's own pit.
The ceiling hoist is surely very useful.
The garage doesn't look like much for the uninitiated, but that guy surely gets a lot done.

That is an awesome garage your friend has bought.

Heating is amazing that it manages 12’C in winter.
Yes, heating garage is awesome thing in our winter!

I was answer about central heating earlier
Central heating takes heat from the cogeneration plants
Pipes on the roof it's are the ventilation shafts of the extract and input ventilation system
In the city, almost 90% of buildings are heated centrally (hot water in heating pipes and radiators). Until the last nuclear reactor was shut down at the Mining and Chemical Combine (MCC), the city received heating from reactors and several fuel oil boilers that maintained heat when the reactors were shut down for scheduled maintenance and reloading of heat-releasing elements from uranium. At the time of President Yeltsin, who was doing everything to have a "like" from the west partners, at the initiative of the Americans, our reactors were stopped in exchange for paying the US for the construction of Zheleznogorsk TPP in Sosnovoborsk (running on coal), which now heats our city, as well as old oil fuels Boilers are still used for additional heating in severe frosts.

Ok, now i know where Batman lives : )

Do you know a recipe for Kvas? I think I would like to try and make some the way it is made in your country. I haven't been here on the forum much lately as I have been busy building my garage. I really like all the pictures and stories that you are sharing on your thread. It is good for all the people of this world to share our thoughts and ideas with each other. Hi for all!
Two month of my life in MIX.

April 12 was the day of Cosmonautics, in our city there was an athletics marathon dedicated to this date. The route passed right next to our house, we were spectators. There was an icy wind in the street and about +3C degrees, it was cold to look at people who were clearly not dressed in the weather, but fled with smiles on their faces.
Under the new rules of anti-terrorist security in Russia, considering the world trends, when terrorists on trucks attack and crush people, the street where the marathon passed was for security reasons blocked off by a truck with a semitrailer.

On April 29, 2018, bikers opened a motorcycle season in Krasnoyarsk. In our garages, my friend Edik (fullname Eduard) owns a Honda Black Widow / Shadow motorcycle that he bought new a few years ago. I met him in 2010, when we brought him all sorts of things from the eBay auction in the US.
He has his own business, he has a studio for installing burglar alarms on cars, and he also makes diagnostics and repair of electronic car systems

There are several recipes for Kvass, there are 2 basic options for making kvass based on black bread (Borodino bread), I'm not sure that you have such you can find on sale, there is a second option on kvass bread sourdough, it is also sold in stores. I think it will not be difficult for me to buy it and send it to you by mail if you want. I will still specify recipes of preparation of kvass of the parents.

I love this thread.

Fascinating how we imagine Siberia to be remote and barren, but is obviously thriving, full of people (very active) and while some things are very different, at the end of the day, car guys and family guys are all the same!

Except, Stas’ wife is hotter than I how I imagined Siberian women. :)

Except, Stas’ wife is hotter than I how I imagined Siberian women. :)

I received a lesson in propaganda when I visited the Soviet Union in the early 90's. We had been led to believe all Russian women were short, heavy, and carried two large bags at all times. Or were sweeping the street. I was disappointed I couldn't find any real Russian women, just tall, slender, beautiful ladies who so far outclassed me all I could do was stare.
