Great report and update Stas.

I bought a new electric hedge trimmer yeasterday. Bosch 700 Watt with 700mm blade, can cut up to 35mm it states.
My old one has been used very hard for 7 years and I also cut neighbours and my ex father in laws hedges.
These tools are not build to be maintained, which hurts my head :wtf:

Anyway, your city looks lovely and green.

I have to go back to the workshop to paint some used chairs I got for my deck.

No real truck time today, just panic when I saw what I need to do...... to repair the rust of 53 years.

Update later in my thread.

Hi Rian!
Foolish marketing rules the world. Previously, they did things that could always be repaired on their own. :(

I'll take a look at your forum thread later.

Good evening!

Some new photos of my life :)

In winter I showed to you the Yenesei river, some photos from may 2018.
Timber barge goes downstream towards the city of Krasnoyarsk

In 2019, Krasnoyarsk will host the 29th winter Universiade, a countdown timer is set on the embankment.
IMG_20180625_111801

I went to the airport to meet my mother, who returned from a vacation from Moscow. On the way I stopped and took a couple of photos.
IMG_20180626_073251

IMG_20180626_073420

By the Universiade, a new terminal building was built, now it is a modern and beautiful building of a much larger area and with a new level of comfort for passengers. Photo from the Internet.
New airport Krasnoyarsk

Another excursion to the old part of Zheleznogorsk. I went to Alfa Bank to get a new card. The building is in the Stalin style - "Stalinka"
IMG_20180629_110550

Palace of Culture, view from the back of the building. Behind him is Lenin's Square, in the winter I showed you an ice town with a Christmas tree, located in front of the front entrance to the Palace of Culture.
IMG_20180629_110628

An interesting building with a clock and a spire in the background, in winter and spring photographs, I also showed it to you. Flowerbeds with flowers. I love summer Zheleznogorsk, it's so green
IMG_20180629_110556

On Saturday I went to the sanitary ware shop to buy a toilet sink. The shop is located on the 1st floor of new houses, which are built in the old style. I like these houses very much, they are built of brick. Previously, this place was 2-storey wooden barracks.

We will move to the dacha. The dacha in Russia is above all pain and suffering from physical exertion, it is the legacy of the USSR. My peers who have dachas already depart from grandmother customs and grandfather rites. Try to plant a lawn, flowers and rest, and not die with a shovel in the garden. Of course, a few beds of cucumbers, tomatoes and greens for salads is a must, but it's for the soul, for the pleasure that, yes, I could grow it myself, I'm fine
IMG_20180630_125055

Katya's father asked to help him raise the planks to the attic of the 2nd floor. The size of the boards is 6 meters long, 5cm * 15cm (2 * 6 inches)

IMG_20180630_125037

IMG_20180630_125043

We raised a part of the boards upstairs, the rest were laid down in the garage. There I photographed the miracle of engineering thought, embodied in the life of the hands of Katya's father. He is the chief engineer at the factory for the production of mattresses and therefore constantly scratches his hands, inventing something and collecting it with his own hands. :bounce::bounce:
He designed here such a machine - a circular saw + plane to plan boards. The engine was bought in the store, something like an engine for a lawn mower. To my surprise, everything works perfectly.
IMG_20180630_131409

The drive belt is removed and therefore it is not on the photo
IMG_20180630_131417

The next day I went to my mother's dacha, she asked me to mow grass, said that her trimer broke. I just in case took a trimer from Katya's father, but as a result I mowed the mother's trimer, which just got a little worse and she could not do it. The battle lasted an hour, I did not know that my eyes can sweat (I was wearing sunglasses), the street was +30 Celsius. :lol_hitti

IMG_20180701_120800

I defeated nettles :rocker:
IMG_20180701_120819

Its been 35c here and very humid. We have to wait till dusk to and mow and trim.

Do you have much of an insect issue in Siberia, mosquitoes and biting flies in summer ?

The old fence around your town looks like it was electrified- several insulators on that post anyway. Scary stuff

That barge with the timber looks like it must draw a good depth in the river, any idea how deep the channel is ? Is the river navigable for a great distance ?

What a great thread. It is just past the middle of Summer here in Wisconsin. Its been humid as all can be the last few weeks.. this week it feels like early fall though..but back to the humidity!

Stas - i love the pictures and the updates of your environment. Its very interesting to see what happens on the other side of the world from here. Just being able to see the day by day normal living is a great eye opener. You seem like such a happy fellow and have a great happy family. I hope your August is treating you well!

morning Stas, trusting all is good with you and your family, I have also asked this question on Vladimir’s thread, but know different people look at different things.

Today it is question time for you and Stas.......

I am not sure if this is a Russian market model car.

What is this, and how many of them still exist?

Are they a bad car to own, or do they resist old age for body rust and mechanical breakdown??

I would guess it Renault in origin.

What year model if from Russia

Thank you.

Hello Ryan!

Good question!

Be afraid of God! This is Moskvich! :)

It's a legendary model by Moscvitch - called in people "pirozhkovoz" or "pirozhok" or "kabluchok" - in USSR that's car used for delivery foods ("pirozhki") or other goods for the stores, this forms of the car looks as a womens boots.

Earlier in the thread, I laid out a photo of my great-grandfather, who was repairing his Moskvich-412, this model is also the same, but it has another rear part like a truck.

More info you can see in that link https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Иж-2715

IZH = Moscvitch only plants in the Moscow or in the Izhevsk city

Hello for all from Russia!

Sorry for my long silence, but no time for post, summer is very short times in Siberia :)
Let's started from a photo of a garage in my mother's garage cooperative

The chalk inscription on the gate to the right of the tank says - The one who will dump the snow to the gate will be degraded. In Russian obscene it sounds more threatening :bounce:

Hello!
There was no time and energy for the forum to write a good post.

Earlier I talked about the central heating of houses. For the heating of cities in Russia, CHP (Warm-Electric Central) is most often used. These are huge plants for generating heat energy by burning coal in stoves and further heating water for batteries in houses and faucets in the kitchen and bathroom. The photo shows the Krasnoyarsk CHP-13 of the company TGK-13 (Heat-generating company-13)

The photo shows the mountains of coal, which are created by bulldozers, as well as a conveyor belt (overpass). Coal is supplied to the station by rail in wagons

Once I went for car parts for my friend for his Lexus. On the territory of the base, where there was a carparts shop and a autorepaircenter, I saw this mammoth. This is an airfield sweeper of the bankrupt airline KrasAir. Snow dumps were removed from the car, as well as an aircraft engine from the rear, which served as a huge hairdryer. Next, I will give you a description of this wonderful car from the Internet.

Airfield cleaning machines

The uniaxial second-generation tractors, who were no longer in demand at the Strategic Missile Forces, found a new profession in large civilian and military airports. We are talking about specific, particularly powerful and efficient mobile sweepers for clearing debris, snow, dust, ice and the subsequent dewatering of runways and taxiways of airfields, territories of large aviation enterprises, test centers and launch sites. Their equipment was mounted on long-wheel uniaxial semitrailers with a welded spindle frame and single-wheel wheels, like a tractor. The processes of cleaning and drainage of territories were carried out with a front blade or a plow, rotating cylindrical brushes of average location, a stream of fresh air from a high-pressure fan or hot air from a jet engine installed on a semi-trailer. Such cars were supplied with powerful lighting searchlights, special signals and means of communication.

The first in this series in 1972 was the airfield car DE-7 with a 4.2-meter blade, developed in Minsk SKB "Meliormash" and frankly copied the design of the Finnish company of road vehicles ARA (ARA). It was towed by the MAZ-529E or MoAZ-546P tractors, and an additional 420-horsepower diesel engine 1D12BS served to drive the brush and the centrifugal fan, supplying fresh air to the road bed through the rear nozzle. In 1975 - 1979, the second airfield sweeper DE-224 was produced with a MoAZ-546P tractor, created in the Dormash design bureau (formerly Meliormash). It was equipped with a front blade with two folding extenders and a brush with a diameter of about 1 m, which allowed cleaning the strip 5.4 m wide in one pass and performing secondary cleaning of the track up to 4 m wide. Cleaning the snow and drying the surfaces provided a stream of hot air from the semi-trailer AI-20 aircraft turboprop engine from IL-18 aircraft. Depending on the degree of contamination of the strip, the thickness and humidity of snow, the performance of the machine ranged from 10 to 80 hectares of surface per hour. Its maximum speed was 40 km / h. Overall dimensions in the working position - 17 100x6040x3700 mm. The total weight is 31 tons. Such machines were built about 20 units.
And now our FAN :bounce:
Since 1980, the modernized version of the DE-224A was installed more powerful, lightweight and simple engine AI-25 from the Yak-40. In 1978, a prototype of the original gas-jet sweeper DE-229 was created with a retired civilian MAZ-529I tractor for cleaning the territories with only powerful streams of hot air. To do this, it was equipped with two side-mounted D-20P aircraft engines from Tu-124 with adjustable nozzles, a rear operator's cabin with an intercom and a 10-ton fuel reserve for aircraft engines stored in large-diameter pipes that made up the semi-trailer carrier. In 1986, the regular DE-235 harvesting machine again returned to the installation of a stand-alone diesel engine 1D12BM to drive a brush and a cold air supply fan, and if necessary, aircraft engines from Tu-154M, Il-62M and Il-76 aircraft mounted on a trailer cart were used. Subsequently, this installation towed MoAZ-6442. It remained in production for a decade and a half, but it was no longer used on Soviet military airfields.
dsc03669.jpg

dsc03670.jpg

The aircraft engine was installed behind the car, which, with its most powerful air flow, blew away the garbage and dried the airfield as a hairdryer :pimpflash
Eez6BANj

Every morning around 6-30 or 7 o'clock a garbage truck of the MAZ brand arrives to us. The whole process takes place in the form of lifting the dumpster and tipping it into the back of a garbage truck.

Trash vehicle

The Northern part of Michigan had about 5-10 cm of snow the other day. I am sure it all melted, but they will probably get their first snow that stays within a few weeks !

How about you ?

Yes, on the last page I posted a photo of the "ratenka" that grows in our country house (dacha), there are also classic apple trees, but there are not very many of them, we need special varieties that are not afraid of the cold.

A lot of apples growing in the warm regions of Russia, especially in the Kuban region (the Krasnodar and Stavropol Krai). Usually we carry apples, watermelons, melons, peaches, grapes from Central Asia (Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as Kyrgyzstan). And also a lot of apples from China, but I do not like them, they are too chemical fertilizers when grown by the Chinese

Great weather and great pictures!

We've had a long run of nicely mild weather. After it turns cold, usually in November, and we have a warm spell we call it Indian Summer.

Hi for all!

My last repair of the battery charger.
The problem was that the wire at the attachment point to the charger body was very hot during charging. The problem was weak contact. I decided to solve this problem by replacing the wires with thicker and new terminals.
I took the positive wires from the power supply of the electro-hydraulic Mazda 3. I bought new copper tubes as connectors and new crocodile terminals.
Get ready :3gears:
IMG_20180822_095206

We first disassemble the case to understand the charger device inside. With the help of a screwdriver, everything was dismantled.
The release date of the device is December 1988. I was 4 years old when it was made at the factory. The prices of many goods in the USSR were applied to the case or packaging directly at the plant, since there was a planned economy and the shops set the state price and had no right to change it. The price of this charger was 25 rubles, in the 80s, for comparison, a plane ticket cost 25 rubles, the average salary of my parents at a satellite manufacturing plant was 125 rubles each.

IMG_20180822_095243

Inside, I found a transformer, and several powerful diodes on a plastic strip that had burst from old age and physical exertion. I straightened everything so that it stood straight, straightened the insulating tubes on the contacts, and also in dangerous places shook the contacts with insulating tape.
IMG_20180822_095712

IMG_20180822_100330

Next, it was necessary to connect the new thick copper wires with a copper tube. The problem was that the diameter of the wire was about 5 mm, and the internal diameter of the tube was 3 mm. I partially led him inside and compressed it with a pliers, and then soldered the outer conductors of the cable to the tube using a soldering iron.

IMG_20180822_101130

Before soldering with a knife, remove the oxide layer from the copper tube and the cable cores and puddle them with pine rosin and tin solder.
IMG_20180822_105721

On the other side of the cable we crimp with the pliers the end of the cable in the crocodile clip.
IMG_20180822_110934

The finished result, the black crocodile clip is a negative wire, and the red one is a positive wire. Now, when charging with current, even in 6 amps, nothing heats up and everything works in normal mode.
IMG_20180822_134044

The next day, I changed the oil on VW Tiguan Kati, but that's another story :) I "love" German cars :lol_hitti

IMG_20180823_102021

Thank you for reading to the end!

Good work with the battery charger. It should last many more years.

I also think he will live :)

Good size shop.

I do love the autumn colours.

And well done on the charger.

Great size garage!
Да, если весь хлам убрать, то 4 машины встанут, к морозам надо заняться этим вопросом.
If we do the cleaning in the garage, then 4 cars can be parked, we need to do this before the arrival of frost.

Good repair!

Salary of 125 rubles. Was that per day, week, or month?
month :)

So the battery charger, like the plane ticket, was almost a week's pay. That should be one fine battery charger! It must be repaired for the legacy of the cost that went into it.

Good job!

Hello for all!

Today is a day of food ****:lol_hitti

Earlier, I already showed you the pork knuckle that I was cooking. Recently, I once again decided to cook it, but slightly modernized the recipe.
The main difficulty in cooking is to marinate the meat with spices and salt inside. This time I entered simply, stuck a knife in the center and a little cut the meat. I poured some salt into the center and stuffed the whole chili pepper.
It turned out very tasty, tender meat is slightly spicy.

Guys, I need your help!
Please tell me about gas stations in your countries, cities. Tell me by what parameters you choose the place where you refuel your car. Maybe there are some loyalty systems or is it important for you to buy coffee at the gas station (from a vending machine or is it really brewed in a Turk?) Or do you need a store or some services? Location is the most important for you?
Do you need a tire inflation machine with a car vacuum cleaner and glass washer fluid?
For example, I get annoyed at the queues at the gas station, I don’t even stop at such gas stations because I wasn’t used to spending more than 5 minutes to gas station.
I just want to help my father to boost sales at his gas station.
If you have photos of your favorite gas stations, it will be just gorgeous!

Gas station with small store is my choice. Also a cup of Hot Chocolate drink is a big bonus for me. Location is not so important for me, but for someone running gas station location means a LOT.

My favorite local gas station is currently under renovation and re-opens in december.

Here is link to another my favorite gas station (really nice location): Patalahti

Same in my area, but maybe as high as 20C. Usually a bit later and it only lasts a few days. Frequently it is after our first frost (less than 100km from my house) they have had hard freeze (< -5C) a couple of nights. We call our warm up INDIAN SUMMER.
