Wera Goodness?? part 2

After my less than spectacular reveiw of my new Wera Lazertip screwdrivers

I'm going to eat a little crow on these. On a few screws I was having some trouble with using my Snap-On drivers and having slightly damaged the screw I grabbed up a Wera and gave it a shot. Half the effort and incredible grip it made short work of getting the screws out. I've only use the #1,#2 Phillips and one blade but I'm impressed. They still seem a little on the :supergay: side but they got the screws out. I was very impressed and in the end removing and installing screws is what they are suppose to do. I think I'll buy a second set for the truck.

I use mine too when my Snap-ons slip. I use mine on rusty/stripped screws and they bite right in. You also should buy the P3 lasertip. That sucker has never let me down on some pretty bad screws.

They have incrdedible bite. Normally I have push hard and turn. Not with these.

I got a set of those not too long ago (I got lured into guying them after reading the "best screwdriver" thread) and really like them so far. Of course I can only compare them to my old Cman set, but I like the feel and grip these get. Purchased through Amazon. Wish I had ordered the P3 driver at the time.

It wasn't so much I didnt like them as I was just neutral about them. I was like "They are Ok but nothing to write home about" kinda of thing. They just don't look very beefy and don't know how well they would hold up under the hostile enviroment of auto repair. Screwdrivers get pretty abused by most techs(myself included). They are an excellant value. I want the Torx drivers as well

Once again; teutonic product/design... may take some "getting use to" but typically, they are excellent! Glad that you "acquired a taste" for Wera! Styling of German products; are definitely unique... kinda like their cars, clothing and techno music you hear over there... can be goofy looking and sounding to us Americans... you wouldn't get it.... its a German thing! LOL! Once you get over your initial prejudice; give them a try.... you'll like it!

I don't know if I would so far as to say that. The Snap-Ons have a lot of use and don't have the ACO tips.

A ratcheting driver is a waste of money for me. Can't stand any of them

They might be great but, I still prefer to have an easy warranty on screw drivers.
Like I said before, ALL screwdrivers will wear out, some faster than others, but none of them last forever. Especially if their used on rusty stuck screws.

I still like my Snap-ons for the commonly used sizes, but I have to admit, the price is attractive on those Wera drivers.

Are they available individually?
I could live without the warranty if they can be replaced for a reasonable price, without buying the entire set.

They only have a couple things listed, it seems. Here might be a better bet, plus there is probably a discount available - at least for first time Wera orders.

I did a little comparison with a few of the #2 screwdrivers liked in the aforementioned thread. The Snap-Ons went onto eBay, and I kept the Weras. They were more than just a little better. I learned to test the Snap-On first, bc if the Wera could barely turn it the Snap On would cam out and suffer damage for resale. The green instinct handle was also pretty bulky.

The Wihas were a bit more comfortable but second in bite, SO 3rd, HF pro 4th, cman regular was last.

I'll get pics soon, as I bought all mine individually.

Got the Green Lasertip Phillips set for max bite (#00-4)
Got the Yellow Chiseldrivers for Standard in case you need to use them as a chisel
Got the light blue stainless torx set jusdt to have a different color in T8-T30

Very happy.

Chads is cool Ive bought from them buy right now they are quite a bit higher on those drivers even with the discount. I have not found anyone who can beat tooltoupia

So they just sent him a replacement without asking for the old one to be shipped back? Thats how Snap-on works, I didn't expect that from wera.

Does the warranty cover wear? Rounded phillips and the like?
Or is it only if it actually snaps and breaks?

The on board storage is great on this driver.I use them all the time and love them.

I can't answer that since mine haven't broken, but surely someone here has.

I'd assume if they don't need the old one about anything qualifies...just my guess.
