Another update...

Currently working on trimming out the entire garage, then final touch up paint before next Tuesday.

Ordered the RaceDeck flooring on Thursday and they already called for delivery midday, Tuesday

In the pictures, it appears there is plenty of light. I think the iPhone camera is compensating. Will need to add quite a bit more lighting, especially in the office area. Maybe some halogen floods here and there to highlight specific items.

Added an Ecobee thermostat so I can control the temp in this building with my phone or via Amazon Echo.

During the south garage project, I've also been fighting my irrigation system. It's been so dry here, getting water where I need it most has been a challenge. It takes 18.5 hours to get through all of the zones each day. Drives me nuts-

Made myself a dot map for all the zones and heads, then made up a spreadsheet to track the watering times, etc. There were 35 zones spread across 2 controllers. I've managed to combine some of the shaded zones to leave more time for the sunny zones.

I used a google maps image, made it grey scale and then added some landscape architect symbols to prettify it.

Wrapping up the trim and trying to get the floor sorted before the RaceDeck arrives tomorrow.

I added some halogen track lighting to give more light in the office area. Worked out great, except as I add more light, I find more stuff to fix and tweak!

My brother built a sweet TV stand and integrated an existing wall plug. I have an Ultra HD 55" Sony arriving Wednesday for this spot.

Should be able to see whatever is on the TV from just about anywhere in the garage.

Still need to trim the attic access and change that cord to a pull ring. I'm down to nit picky stuff now like adjusting the blinds and pull cords lengths.

Yeah, this is going to be nice. I painted flat black under the base trim to ease the transition of the tile. Still need to tweak my paint a little. I can see I'll be making a ton of cuts. No big deal.

I didn't want to look at the concrete through the tile so I'm using a nice black landscape fabric I found at Home Depot. Only $9 per roll and it's held down with small pieces of Gorilla Tape. Since no washing or heavy detailing will go on in here and only clean cars will be stored here, it should be fine. It's also silent when I walk on it ;-)

Should be done tomorrow with plenty of pics to follow.

Making progress... it's a bigger job than I anticipated, but I'm super pleased with how it's turning out. Probably finish it tomorrow. I'm beat to pieces at the moment.

Managed to get the TV hung and detailing of the cabinet before final paint.

Only a few cuts left. I should be able to get some full daylight shots with the doors open tomorrow.

After a test cut with a sliding compound saw, I found that it was best to start right side up and in the back of the piece, pulling through it for the best results. I did cut one upside down but it left too many frayed bits on the edge of the tile.

I'm actually interested in the wifi bridge. I'm low tech, do the purpose of the hardware needs to be explained to me. I know our recently updated router seems slower than the old 10 year old unit now that our plan is supposedly better/faster. The unit sits on top of kitchen cabinets and I can't get reception on the porch 30 feet away let alone in the detached garage. So your bridge or booster as if consider it is intriguing me. Do share more. Thanks!

I made a thread explaining how to do this. The only change I have made is to use Ubiquity access points indoors. Didn't have very good luck with the Engenius indoor products. Their outdoor products have been fine.

It looks super complicated but trust me, it is not. Just configure one device at a time, working from your modem.

Best practices for ALL WiFi configurations:

Always use channels 1, 6 or 11. These channels have no overlap. Do a speed test on each channel to determine which is best in your situation.

Always use AES encryption with WPA/WPA2 security. Avoid tkip/wep at all costs due to security issues and speed problems. Any other encryption or combined encryption types than AES will set the default speeds of your WiFi to A, B and G. The only way to benefit from Wireless "N" and "AC" is to use AES/WPA

Added a splash of color to help with housekeeping. Ordered the 50' hose, which reaches every corner of the garage and office area.

Also added a NEST Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Alerts to my phone if anything happens in the garage while I'm away.

I just got back from running the Nova hard and pulled it in for a few minutes to see how she likes her new home. Sorry it's so filthy :-(

The minute I got the garage done (mostly done), my wife wants to use it for a party. Dang, now I have to park the Nova elsewhere until next week.

HAHA! That amazing estate, and your wife wants to host a party in the garage!?! Man, that's a compliment to your work if ever I've heard one. I like that vacuum canister unit you have there. Simple and effective. And, the Nova looks right at home in there.
