Never had one myself, but a neighbor of mine had one (not sure of the BTU's) in a 24X24 fully insulated garage and it made it HOT in there, but Hot in a good way, very comfortable working conditions. He did complain about it using alot of propane though

I have one of those, extremley noisy but got the shop hot in a hurry. If it's well insulated you can run it and heat the shop up and then turn it off and on as needed. Just make sure you don't poison your self with the fumes.

Make sure to find out the size propane tank it needs. I had a similar heater and the average 20lb tank couldn't let the liquid propane vaporize fast enough to keep it supplied with gas. It ran fine off a 100 lb tank though. The propane guy told me that the ability to vaporize drops with temperature so the colder it gets the bigger the tank you need. At least that's how it was explained to me...Can anyone elaborate?

Well I can't speak for that particular heater, but I have a 70k propane torpedo heater for my garage. When I run off the 100lb tank I have no problems, but the 20's will only run it when they are full. If I can get them warm then they will run it until they are empty, otherwise the flame will slowly grow smaller and smaller until it goes out. Just something to think about if you are in the market for any propane heater and don't have a large permanent tank. I like the 20's simply because I can get them exchanged at the local gas station, otherwise I have to drive 15 miles to get the 100 filled. On a side note though, the 100 runs my heater a loooonnng time. With the amount I use the garage (a few hours about 3-4 nights a week) I can go almost a winter on one tank. I only keep my 18x20 at 50 when working out there, and not heated when I'm not there. I crank up the heater full blast for about 30 min, and then dial it back to low or just under low while i"m working.

I have one of those trash can / construction heaters. I haven't used it in some time, mine is a 240,000 BTU unit as I recall. It will require at least a 100 lb. tank.
It will heat the hell out of a small space in a hurry although it is quite noisy and in my garage it caused alot of condensation when I would use it.
One of the other down side for me was you couldn't set it up with a thermostat, it was either running or it was totally off. You could turn it down low but it was still a little noisy.
Now when I am out in the garage I just use my reddy heater set up on a thermostat. Yes it's still noisy but it brings the garage up to temp. quickly and shuts down with the thermostat so at least it isn't noisy for long.

I have used a 150K unit in an insulated garage. Like a torpedo unit, it will heat the space very fast. The problem with any "exhaustless" heater is condensation. If you use it with any frequency, rust, mold, and other moisture associated effects will happen. Maybe if you lived in a very dry climate, that would be no concern, but Md. doesn't qualify for that.
