If the threads are large enough, they could be "knock off" hub pullers for tapered drive axles. To use one, remove the nut from the axle end, screw the puller on the axle, but don't seat it against the hub. Hit the end of the puller with a large hammer. The impact and inertia of the hub will free it from the taper. At least, that is what the sales pitch said! I never got one to work, and used screw-type hub pullers on my Model A Ford.
