I also agree 100& with the switches being all down when off. In our last house I had to pull and flip switches so I could live in it. Contractor must have hired a wet behind the ears electrician.

We did an extensive remodel on our house and I did very little of the electrical work. Had multiple electricians in the house and most seemed surprised my wife and I wanted the multiway switches pointing in the same direction. I'm not sure if they installed them opposite as a matter of practice or if they had never been asked to pay attention to such a thing. Remembering back I think it was the latter.

Regardless, since I made my post about this earlier today our hallway 3-way that faces up for off has been bothering me. I'll add that to my list of things to get done. Then there's also that 4-way out in the garage that never gets used...

Probably not, since I have neighbors and not neighbours.

;)

Apparently the ability to spell correctly isnt needed where Steevo lives. I'm sorry I forgot you speak American not English.:lol_hitti

Lights. Shirts. Books that are not piled square relative to the corner of surface upon which they are placed (think about it) and not stacked in descending size largest to smallest. ......:dunno:

I could go on forever but I won't.:D

Hmmm seems as if I may be the strange one of this site. I have nothing that I can think of to be **** about. I am sure once I have my garage built that will change. I guess I am just far too laid back to be **** about anything. I have various pet peeves but I wouldn't consider that being ****.

I'm not really **** about anything.

I do do many of the things you guys speak of (un-kinking cords, bills facing the same way, etc) but if they aren't, I don't have to stop what I am doing and "fix" it.

If my 3 way switches weren't facing the same way, I would fix it !

Of course!
How else can you hang stuff in a closet?

Duh!

And I thought it was common knowledge that all the bills in your pocket had to be faced the same way, with small bills inside and large outside. You mean some people don't do this??

Holy ****!

OMG! This thread is better than having a therapist, I'm friggin NORMAL!!!!!! Yes on shirts (mine go to the right shoulder, I don't let things go to the "left") and always biggest bills on the outside and smallest in the middle.

I forgot to mention all the bills in my wallet have to be right side up, all front forward, in order by denomination, larger bills at back, to smaller ones in front and I don't let folded corners stay folded.

Man, I guess I'm a sick mofo!

Well this thread is either therapeutic or just proof we are all in the right forum.

Absolutely agree with most of the ones discussed so far including shirts hung facing the same way and bills in denominations largest to smallest. Though I also place them from most to least "crisp" so that in theory I am using the rattiest bills first.

Always use the Hank Hill quote when referring to my yard: "I keep my lawn in a constant state of readiness."

Wood scrap organized largest to smallest so I can see what I have available.

I stack my shop towels folded in half with the folds alternating every other side to keep the stack level.

Since I consider metric to be "wrong," (no offense to our Non US GJ brothers ;)) I always have metric tools on the left side of the toolbox.

Cans of spray paint are on a shelf with labels out, in color spectrum order. (Shout out to Roy G. Biv)

I have two rows of license plates as the "stripe" on the garage wall and it is alphabetical by state. All the US territories are on the cabinet, separated as they are in reality.

It's a problem and I recognize that but I like order :dunno:

Wife and kids know my OCD well and like others have posted, they find great comedy in messing with things just to bust my agates. They are not amusing.

My. Lawnmower. Is. Perfect.

After 3 years of dealing with ****** lawn mowers, I ponied up and bought a nice Honda mower. A nice LIFETIME Honda lawnmower. I spray it off--after it has cooled-- and towel dry it after every use. Yes, I fugin towel dry it. Don't think I haven't thought about soaping and waxing it too. Seriously. I also spray the undercarriage and thoroughly spray the collection bag so it doesn't get all clogged with old stinky grass ****. I love it when I use it and I park it within an inch of where it belongs every time. I check the oil before each use. I only fill the gas tank up half way during fill-ups in case something unforseable takes me away from its weekly use. When filling, I do-not-spill-a-single-drop-of-gas. You should have seen me taking it out of the box, all brand new and stuff. It was nothing short of a surgical procedure.

This thread just made me go learn how to over/under coil a cable. I had no idea! Thx GJ!

Excellent! Too few people know this, and you can never go back. Being able to put the coil down, grab one end and walk away with it without it ever twisting or tangling is sooo much better! Works with hoses (air and water) too.

I have two rows of license plates as the "stripe" on the garage wall and it is alphabetical by state. All the US territories are on the cabinet, separated as they are in reality.

My CDs and records are in alphabetical order by band name, with the albums under each band in chronological order. Drives me nuts if they aren't put back correctly!

Never really thought twice about it, but I hang all my clothes the same way too. And I like the light switches to be in the correct on/off position. And while we have a variety of clothes pegs, only one type of peg should be used on each piece of clothing...

Lawn Edging - EVERY lawn should be edged. If not, why bother mowing it. Yes, I'm THAT guy that will edge my lawn and keep going until I'm a few houses away. I've even gone across the street to "help" a neighbor edge his lawn - especially if I know that he only has a trimmer and rarely edges his lawn. Yes, I've always asked neighbors if it was okay if I edged their lawn. All have said to feel free to just do it whenever I have the edger out. Most always say Thanks. One even says thanks by making me a batch of cookies every now and then. One already offered to give me their edger since they never use it anymore (since I edge for them).

Screwdriver drawer - All torx with other torx, phillips with other phillips, and slotted with slotted. Don't have to be in ascending/descending order - just together.

Sockets - No missing sockets - EVER!. If I can't find one, I'll buy a new one within a week to replace it. I've had way too many experiences with jobs, where I needed, say a 10mm, and of course it was the one that was missing. No more!

Vehicle Maintenance - If I own it, it's going to be in top mechanical shape. Don't care what the vehicle even looks like. Could be a 12 year old van or a new car. It's going to be fully functioning and safe to operate at all times. Also, I'm going to fix it. Never goes to a shop.

Lawn equipment - Everything that requries a spark plug, gets a new plug every single year - whether it needs it or not. Riding tractor and push mowers get an oil change every other month (we mow a lot of lawns). Blades get sharpened as soon as the grass is looking like it's being torn apart and not cut. Yes, I quite often pick up a blade of grass and examine the cut closely, looking for a sharp cut line and not a tear.

Driveway Parking (RESPECT the lanes!) - We have 5 cars so I ask the family to park in the exact same spots each day, parking nice and straight in the same imaginary lanes. This way, I have the logistics all worked out and don't have to move cars around each day. I know who leaves first and who leaves last and have a great system all worked out. Just respect the lanes and all will be fine. Otherwise, when I get home from work, I'm going to call someone's cell and patiently wait outside until they move their car - so I can get in. I know this sounds crazy **** but anybody with a driveway full of cars can definitely feel my pain and appreciate when a thought out (and working system) has been developed for all to use.

That's it! Perfectly normal, especially here!

I actually had a Honda (home owner grade not from HD or Lowes) and couldn't stand it. It always left a strip and thanks to the EPA's noise standards was way underpowered until I tweaked the governor a bit. Sold that one off and bought a Toro, cuts nice but I hate the **** drive system. Sure wish John Deere was still producing the 14SB/original JX75, those were great mowers!

I hate when people load my dishwasher the wrong way(after a dinner party or such)..there is only one way...my way!!!

2 years ago my MIL moved in with us, she just puts the dishes in how ever she pleases. It drives me freaking crazy, I will empty the entire dishwasher out and reload it. I have talked to my wife about her mom until I'm blue in the face. So I don't say anything about it anymore I just fix it.

Like other, lights switches all have to be the same way, my money in order small to large facing the same way, I always have 5 each of every ********** in my wallet. Use one I replace it from the safe when I get home. Lights, have to be off if you aren't in the room (I am change all the lights over to motion sensor).
My clothes, t-shirts and button ups all face the same way, and have to be grouped. I like the kitchen counters to be clear, they wife lets stuff pile up on one corner, I leave it for a day then I throw it all away, if she wants it she can get it out of the can.
Drive way, I blow it off at least 3 times a week, can't stand for stuff to be on it.
Funny thing is if you go into my garage it looks like a bomb had gone off in it. I clean it once a month and complain the whole time.

I didn't think I had a problem until I read this post, who knew. :headscrat

Mowers. Here in the snowy forest we don' need no steenkin' mowers! Snowthrowers, on the other hand... We just got a new track-drive Ariens... like your baby, it's mine. I may let the truck stay dirty, I mat forget to check the car's oil in the morning, sometimes in the middle of a project the shop can look disorganized... but YA DON'T MESS WITH OL' ORANGE! Cleaned, polished, and waxed (Yes, I do, and you should, too!), spotless, run and checked monthly (including lights, handwarmers, drive belts, tracks for wear, etc.)...

Has it's own parking stall in the garage, it's own outlet and power lead for the starter, a whole shelf dedicated to it's loving care and upkeep...

Actually, I do have a whole "A" list of stuff (most of what you guys covered already - seriously)... I can add one or two, tho - 2 or more partially used containers of anything. Yes, I'm the evil wench who will go and combine 2 half full tubes of toothpaste into one, and hide the full one until the other is used. I have a whole drain system to recover the oil in the bottom of oil jugs when I do changes until I get enough to fill or top off my shop oiler, quench can, or whatever... Spice jars are my nemesis, as are most containers in the fridge. Woe behold someone who grabs an full rattlecan when there's one of that color already in use. :uzi: :rocketwho

One I don't do as often - I'd wear something once and wash it. Whether it looked dirty or not. Or send it to the cleaners if its something nice or needed to be pressed or deep cleaned (uniform shirts or shop coveralls come to mind). It was HELL to break myself of that!

And by the way - every place I have lived that was mine, I have opened up switch covers and turned switches over so off was either down, or on 3 way, off was the same direction. I ******** HATE it when a switch is backwards. (And yes, I line up all the screw heads while I'm at it - doesn't matter if they're horizontal or verticle, they're ALL the same in the house.)

I like my cords and hoses coiled but I'm not particular about the twistless over/under coil.

My biggest thing is DON'T touch stuff in my garage! Occasionally my OCD wife will zone out and start trying to de-clutter my workbench while I am in the middle of a project!!!!! :FIREdevil

I've actually been on my knees begging her not to move stuff around in the garage. I occasionally find weird and strange items in toolbox drawers and I know that she's been at it again.

After I got my Vidmar cabinets and HF toolboxes I had a sit-down with her and explained that she was not to touch anything in my garage, because I now have over 150 drawers to search if I have to hunt something down that has been mis-filed. I took her into the garage and asked her to find a screwdriver. After opening about 10 drawers she gave up and promised to never touch anything again. So far so good.

Rule in my shop is 'if you get something out, leave it on the bench or the top of the tool box and I will put it away". It works for me

Zip ties that are cut wrong and are sharp. Every damn panel I work in I get cut. I spend the time to make my panels cut free, until some dumb dumb decides to throw another tie in there.

(*Embarrassed to post this picture, because I see I have some wrenches where the claws are going different directions. This must be corrected….)

All tools have to be wiped off of grease before being put away.

If I'm missing a socket, it drives me nuts. I'll search until I can't search anymore to find it. The ones I can't find, I have to buy another one to match. Even if I have 14 9/16 sockets in various drives, I have to have the one I lost back.

On my combo wrenches, I have 2 of everything. The Sears Industrials go on the outside, the Sears Professionals go on the inside. The Blackhawk ratcheting wrenches are inside of the Gearwrench ones.

I have to buy things in even numbers. 10 2x4s, 4 sheets of plywood, 2 boxes of nails.

Like others have mentioned, extension cord abuse. If somebody borrows a cord from me, and returns it not coiled right, or heaven forbid, wrapped up by using their hand and their elbow  I have to lay it in the sun and let it relax and coil it right.

And a million more things….
