add to that his familiarity with internal fuel pump carbs from watercraft....creases in flappers all the time....I hope he realizes us Roger guys are known for teasing. I have seen a few Stihl carbs with flappers worn enough that you can feel a detent in the surface outlining the hole from the carb body or the fiber type getting small holes from wear along the edges. I always run a pick over them to be sure there isnt wear on the black, plastic type.
Ya, he knows his ****, that’s why it was funny.

This is EXACTLY what it was. I saw it but didn't think it was enough to cause this issue since it started up and ran OK.............at least until you full throttled it.

TRUTH...............I'm NOT a lownmower mechanic LOL!!

More kitchen problems today.

Last night, one of the coolers in the kitchen up and quit working. Fortunately, it was nearly empty at the time, so no food wasted.

Did you know your refrigerators and freezers are designed to self-destruct?

That coil in the tub full of corrosion is there to evaporate the condensate water from the defrosting cycle. Condensate water is pretty damned acidic, so it eats through the coil--which carries hot refrigerant. The coil was replaced a few weeks ago and is already pretty corroded. I left the drain out of the tub so it drains to the floor and the nearby floor drain. One problem solved.

Anyhow, the immediate problem was that the cooling fan for the condensing unit had stopped. It was too hot to work on last night--and the kitchen too busy--so I got on it first thing this AM. I keep several of the fan motors for these on hand, as this happens pretty often.

But this one had a rather unusual failure mode:

We had a mouse in the kitchen last week. I set some traps, but no luck. I guess it found its own trap.

Removed dead mouse and the fan works fine now.

Went in and grabbed tools to replace the door sweep on the front door, sanded the removable wood sill down about 1/16" all the way across to clear the thicker generic rubber door sweep and cleaned up the mess.

Then spent a few hours trying to figure out why Windows crashed on the laptop and get it working again. Ran system diagnostics and all tests passed. It has been running the Windows reset for about an hour now "Getting things ready". I'm going to let it keep running the reset procedure till it gives up.

I like to think of it as job security.

If I'm feeling bored or at loose ends, I just take a walk around the plant to see what's broken since I last passed through.

Not a direct image from in the garage but the result of a couple of months work inside..! A little MG earning its keep. Was bought unseen as a project from an auction a few months ago whereby it had formed part of a deceaseds estate and hadn't really done much in the past 9 years. Upon arrival it was cosmetically poor, but solid. There was no rear brake drums and stuck brake cylinders so we decided to go renew the whole braking system along with the suspension/tyres. A good thing too as one of the axle stubs had a slight hairline crack under the paint.. We also gave the engine a good service and have only had the car out locally in the past few days. We'll give it a fair bit of use for the rest of the year and may decide to paint it early 2026 although there is merit in having a scruffy car that we're not precious about.

This weekend is the pinnacle of Australian car racing so I walked into the shed and flipped the TV on ( I usually only use it for streaming) only to find out the channel I want comes up with a sign saying "no video signal". I have known the aerial is not in the best condition for awhile now but always got by. My wife is away for a week so it seems I'll only be watching from inside the house ( I was planning on being able to wander back and forth )
Local big box store has aerials from $80 to $200 , I don't know anything about them, maybe I'll go in this afternoon

Today, in the garage...
Did an oil and filter change today...
Pulled the 9YO battery, as it was starting to show its age... Put it on the sulfide rejuvenator, just to see if it improves...
Will hold off until next Spring and purchase a fresh new battery, since I don't drive it in the snow...
Put a red microfiber towel to remind me not to lock the bonnet with the battery out...
There's a connection in the footwell fuse panel that will allow jumping and unlocking the bonnet if the battery is missing...
Just discovered that the doors won't mechanically latch closed without a working battery in place... Smart one!!!

IMG_5156.jpg

Had to climb into the front well just to lift the battery out...

I'd first check the cable that connects the aerial to the TV--that's most likely where your problem lies.

Probably simple co-ax with a BNC connector--you can easily make them up yourself with hardware store cable and parts.

Don't fall off the roof or ladder!

Washed the truck.

Spent most of the time scrubbing the small fruit spatters from the fruitless pear. The fruit is the size of a grape. The squirrels go after the pit and drop the fruit. The residue is hard to clean off. I've used some bug and tar remover that the auto place said was great.
Still had to scrub with a nylon brush.

Lots of elbow grease.

I followed that with rubbing compound. Then with cleaning wax.

Took almost the whole day. Still need to wax the entire truck.

I figured the pressure washer is done. I was turning it off and on to use it. When it was shut off, water was pouring out of the bottom.

I checked Amazon and they had the newer model, (Near identical)
On a prime deal day price of $143. I figure my time is worth more than screwing with the broken one so I bought it.
Now I'll have a spare hose, nozzles and spray wand.
those little pears are total ********, I have one at our other house, jesus those things screw up paint in an afternoon.

Changed the oil on the winter-beater explorer. I had to drive into town and get a new drain plug, the old one was all mangled up. I also aimed the headlights and put a big hose clamp around the rattly cat heat shield. Oh, and ran the check engine codes. I forgot how much it ***** to count blinks on old cars with 10+ error codes, lol. "Wait, was that a six or seven? Damnit!'

Finished up router table version 2.0.
This table is 4 1/2 “ taller than version 1.1

The idea is to be able to store the table while the router and fence remained installed in the as used set up position.

Finally finished making some hoops and tie down rails for my dump trailer, now just need to get a tarp to keep the trailer covered when not in use, hopefully it will keep the inside from rusting.

Made linkage for the Ford tractor trying to get it to hold throttle, my thinking was the linkage was short so I fabbed a longer piece. Installed tested, no change so it's not the linkage. I reinstalled the original. The hunt continues.

Yesterday evening - last 3 rows glued on the table project. I'll probably just leave it clamped up for a bit, next step is setting up the router sled to flatten it. The first one seemed to take so much longer and had some extra side projects involved. I was short on correct clamps/ sizes and had to build the router sled setup. With everything in place, it's significantly easier.

Funny--there are actually fruitless pears.
The one I have is at my first ever house which I still own. It is a tree right on the street and you can't cut it down because the city owns that little section of land.

When I had to park on the street in the fall for some reason they were brutal little pears.

I haven’t had to do that yet, but I imagine if you take a video with your cell phone it would be easier to double check.
It's funny, I get out my old-*** code scanner, and the spiral-bound code book that comes with it, and instantly I am back to the 90s mindset. I didn't even think about modern things like cell phones, lol. It was like a subconscious thing. My brain was like "oh, we're doing this now?" and I just revert back to 1990s-era thinking where cell phones didn't exist.

But yeah, shooting video would have been a good thing. I'll have to do that once I get some parts replaced and run the codes again.

Wow! REAL butcher block! Somehow, it bothers me that any table/countertop assembled from pieces of wood, regardless of grain orientation, gets called "butcher block".

Changed the oil in the 07 Explorer. It's been 2 years and 11 days since the last oil change with a total of 3145 miles driven in that time.
The previous oil change occurred after 15 months and 3146 miles driven in that time.
I didn't realize until I looked up the previous oil change that the mileage was so close - I've been basically changing by time rather than mileage lately since I'm not driving it at least 5K in a year.
