I put my generator on the battery tender & I also started the generator.
Restored my BUFORD drum smoker, needed a new cam, rod, piston, paint, etc.

I see the license plate but no inspection sticker......

Looks like a Monkey Wards. I had a similar one that was my first power mower, given to me by my father and it was his first as well. I wasn't even old enough to be trusted with it when he got it. 2.75hp and it lasted well over 40 years. When I gave it away the guy that took it asked if it worked and I fired it up for him.Didn't really do anything in the shop today, but was traipsing around the woods at my old home place today and spied this:

Might have been the first push mower my Dad ever had. If that is the same one, I logged many hours behind that thing.
dla
I had replaced it with my dad's next mower, a Wards 3.5 with a rear bag, as he went with a self-propelled due to his advancing age. I used the 3.5 for many years until I bought a MTD 5hp rear-bagger. Still have it. I'm 57 and I've had exactly 3 push mowers. Those old Wards units were great.Still have it. I'm 57 and I've had exactly 3 push mowers. Those old Wards units were great.
What is retail on those?
My father is 66 and has had the same Honda mower for probably the last ~30 years... lol. He's changed the transmission on it, swapped the engine, new wheels, new cables... Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin...

Sounds like the old hammer story.
"This hammer is over 100 years old and still going strong. I have replaced the handle 6 times and the head three times."
They just don't make quality like this any more.

Retail is $409.00 (left) and $429.00 (right).

I need to build this exact thing, but in an L shape![]()

Started this about a week ago. Started with a free table on casters......
![]()
Then needed a place to store it out of the way. I cut and welded 3 frames to make this. You can see the remnants of the last frame behind the saw in the background.....
![]()
Then put a coat of paint on it. I was pretty disappointed that the **** at NAPA sold me flat instead of gloss. Not a real big deal, I just didn't want to drive back to town to get gloss......
![]()
Then started to refinish some 2" solid maple tops. I think they're maple. Lots of holes to plug.......
![]()
Which got to me here. All the holes plugged and everything sanded. I will router a radius on a few edges tonight.
![]()
Then put a few coats of this on.......
![]()
The final size will be 11' x 3' with enough room to park the table and a rubbermaid cart under it. The best part is the table, the steel frames and the maple tops were free. I'll have about $100 in it when I'm done.

Nice car!

I just noticed that your overhead heater looks like a Hot Dawg, is that correct? How do you like it and what size is your shop?
I ask because I just installed one about three/four weeks ago as my old Reznor was getting old. I just haven't run the heater yet as our temperatures in Utah have been fantastic this fall. I am not complaining at all though.
Mike.
It is the Modine Hawt Dog. I put it in 15 years ago and run it off natural gas. My garage is a little over 800' with 9' ceilings. A 45K BTU unit would have done the job. I elected for the 75K unit so I can heat things up quickly when it's time to work, or so that it comes back up to temp quickly after opening the doors when it's -***. I keep it at 45* just to keep things from freezing and it only takes 10 minutes to come up to 70*. Not ideal since this will cycle more than the smaller unit, but in 15 years I've had only 2 problems with it. I had to put a controller in it a couple of years ago, and just last week it needed the power vent motor replaced. I might not have had these problems with the smaller unit. I'd buy another one.
