Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Picked up after the crash.

As I opened the garage door from the outside,

>One of the ladders that are set near it got hung up.
>That ladder, pulled on a nearby cabinet with the grinder and vise on it, toppling it over,
>That in turn, hooked on the cabinet with the drill press, taking it with it,
> Both of them crashed into my wife's bicycle

The cabinets had boxes of small parts, screws, hooks, grinding wheels etc in them, now tossed all over the floor.

Thank god the car was not there!

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

My best friend installs garage doors for a living, and he sent me a pic from the garage of a local farmer. He had a '11 Porsche GT2 RS, '12 Porsche 911 Turbo, Nissan GTR and highly modified newer Chevy pickup.

Theres a farm near me - looks completely nondescript struggling farmer... With an old military surplus quonset hut... That has every year make and model of 60s and 70s Mopar muscle in it (most apparently low mileage)... I've heard the stories, ive seen the pictures, one day I'll get a chance to see it myself ;)

Best I've had recently was a good customer who had me move his 68 GT350 - I was instructed not to reverse - so 'take it for a lap around the block - rural property, that was a 3 mile jaunt) lol! Oh it was heaven!

Oh, I saw the outboard after you pointed it out. Be cool to install an inboard 25 hp Briggs and Stratton Industrial with a propeller shaft -- as a backup to the outboard. Or I guess just using a Minn Kota as a backup would be much easier than that. :)

I watched a few YouTube videos of cool older and smaller boats. This guy in Norway has an old 1950's wooden boat with a small diesel (original) that sits in the middle of the boat. You steer it by loving a lever that moves the propeller shaft.

I found a cool video of the type that you have. These look totally cool!

Look at this really tiny one:

Lol she can fight with my wife...

Last pic I saw was from 18' in the air and aimed at the row of super birds/roadrunners and Daytona's... Thats when I knew I had to get an invite... Its a huge quonset and he's got everything...

Unfortunately - still haven't had the introduction/invite...

Sighs...

Got everything in my rear mocked up and finally decided to remove it, prime and paint it. Used a charcoal color hammertone paint so hopefully if it gets scratched I can easily blend it back in.

Plumbed a wash basin / laundry tub into the basement.

Plumbing tip: Before cutting into existing water lines make sure you have enough solder to complete the job. Especially if you're working past 9pm on a Saturday night and all the hardware stores are closed.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Preload set on the reconditioned milling machine spindle. Had it all down to parts, cleaned and reassembled over the last weekend. While that was running in I started disassembling the Alba 1A 10" shaper I had sitting for over a year. Fixed my daughters' pretty pink princess umbrella that had the handle snapped off in the car door while the shaper parts were soaking in degreaser. Halfway through stripping the paint off when I got called in to fire up the BBQ for dinner. Good day in the workshop.

Painted the base and main machine casting as well as the ram, doors and flywheel cover on the Alba 1A during breaks from doing gardening and landscaping. First time using a mini roller for applying paint after cutting in with a brush. I like it! Started assembly and fixing bits as I go during breaks from doing more gardening the following day. Starting to resemble a shaper again.

Finished the day degreasing and polishing the remaining bits. Should be able to order the drive belt and start building a replacement compound mount and a new clapper box. Pretty effective weekend. At this rate I might even get the band-saw reconditioned before Christmas.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

I installed the passenger side rear sliding door handle on the wife's van this morning. I was kind of surprised it only took 45 minutes, and I didn't break any of the clips holding the door panel, the door panel tool really works... And so does the door crank tool for the C clips (needed it to get the interior door handle off).

Something simple but I'm proud I did it without breaking the clips, I've always broken atleast one clip removing door panels...

Didn't really do anything in the shop today, but was traipsing around the woods at my old home place today and spied this:

Might have been the first push mower my Dad ever had. If that is the same one, I logged many hours behind that thing.

Maybe a Lawn-Boy? I remember the first one my dad had and it had that outlet in front of the right front wheel setup.

Cleaned up all the spanners I got at a clearing sale on the weekend.

Found a few names amongst the oldies ... Lister and Petters didnt surprise me ....

Anybody able to ID the little one, under the herbrand ??
... theres no brand on it.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Pulled the batteries, charger, and other related electrical from the sissor lift so I could clean out the corrosion and paint the battery box. Figured I would try that Rusteolum rubber sealant or whatever in a can. Seems to go on pretty good and made a nice thick coat. Hopefully won't have to mess with it for another 4 or 5 years.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Today I pulled one of my wife's tires to pull a screw out. Luckily it was a very short screw & I didn't need to plug the tire. Then I filled all of the tires on all of my equipment d vehicles. I put my generator on the battery tender & I also started the generator. I swapped my truck & Vette into opposite bays for the winter time. I also reinforced my flag pole over my garage because it was pulling out.
