Gave the poor kitty a bath, with all the construction, drywall, paint etc I've been doing in the garage, it desperately needed it! Just in time too, it's supposed to snow tomorrow.

Much better now....

The boxes contain a Mini 998 engine in pieces that belongs to a friend of mine, he decided not to rebuild it and found a good used one instead - he's picking it up today.

That is a beautiful 2+2, and a fine example of what automotive design used to be.
It is so sad that nothing this beautiful is made anymore.

Put on new license plates. Thought it was going to be a 5 min job. That was before I had to drop the front bumper cover, grind off 2 bolts, and drill out a 3rd that snapped off in a welded on nut. Great design there, Honda!

Made up a wheel chock to go on my home made bike lift.

Cheers,
Damian.

Is it just me, or does that wheel seem to be missing something?:bounce:

Jim

Easy to re-lace though. I did my share of wheels back in the day but I don't think I've ever seen a cross 1 pattern before though. :headscrat

Probably tough to mount on the truing stand....

Put the entryway cabinets that I'm making for a friend together to get a rough idea of the size. Even when you know the dimensions, the size still surprises you.

Insulation.... Did the ceiling and about 1/3 of the walls before I lost motivation.

Not really in the garage, but tomorrow I get to change the circuit board in our gate opener because it's acting all crazy and I already troubleshooted the wiring eliminating the simple (and cheap) possibilities.

Rode the Hawk over to my uncle's house in 20 degree F weather, changed the oil and filter, topped off the tank gas and Stabil, drained the float bowls, and put it on the centerstand with some wood under the tires. Just need to head back over and put the cover on it that I forgot to bring along.

I build the ammo cans using different types of speakers, a small class t amplifier and an internal battery. The amp is almost 90% efficient so it will play off a 7 amp hour battery for 30+ hours. I also do the same set up in old briefcases and guitar cases. Sounds a lot better than youd think.

Would you post a how to thread for the ammo can radio? It's awesome!

That ammo can radio is SWEET!

Today a good friend of mine came over. We installed a new intake manifold on his Cummins and did an EGR cooler delete on mine, and changed the CCV filter. Then we just hung out in front of the heater.

Nothing yet, just about to start making up some wheel stud blanks that will hopefully allow me to mount the 19.5s on my truck, should have been out there hours ago but the thermometer was reading over 45C all day.

Snow is upon us. So, either I crawl around in it and change my wife's tires to the winter ones or I'll toss them into the truck so I can run over to the local shop and have it done.

You can probably tell that my enthusiasm is underwhelming :)

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Yesterday morning my wife had something going on so I took my son to breakfast. I had about an hour and a half before a part that I ordered showed up at my local NAPA store. It was so nice and relaxing to just sit and enjoy breakfast with my son and talk. I think I need to do that more often. I have a good relationship with my son and we spend a lot of time together but it is usually while we are working and while we are doing other things. This was different in the fact that we didn't have anything else going on at the moment and we just sat and talked and not in a hurry to eat and get going.

After picking up the part from NAPA, we went back home and got to work out in the shop and it was a great Saturday. My son was cleaning/detailing his Jeep and I was working on fixing the coolant leak on Duramax. Just hanging out, BSing in the shop and joking around. Best Saturday I have had in a while.

Good for you guys! I had my son at the cottage a few weeks back for a couple of days. We ate, had a few drinks, did a couple of chores and had fun. Darn those girls...and schools...and friends...and jobs..... :)

Good for you. I agree though, between his college courses, friends and working I don't get to spend as much time with him as I used to or would like to. I think I am really going to struggle when he moves out on his own.

As parents you want to see them mature and have a life, however, it is hard to see them move on and away.

Dragged the garage woodburner from one end of the garage to the other where its going to get set up temporarily so I have heat this winter, started mocking up the chimney so I can work out what else I need to buy and realised that the grille inside it is the wrong one so I need to break out the welder and make a whole new one and also need to make an ash pan for it. Drank some beers in memory of my old cat that died on Friday night.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Pulled the control board out of our gate opener (Elite SL-3000), the back side was covered with cobwebs and dead ants. Crossed fingers that was the problem, cleaned it off good. Also pulled the surge protector module and it too was full of dead ants.

Put it all back together, started working okay for a minute, then went all wonky again... *grumble*

Oh yeah, also broke a screw that holds the board in place and those are press-fit in. Managed to have a male/female standoff that threaded on and worked perfect to give enough thread through the board.

Luckily we have a complete spare unit, just for times like this. Pulled that circuit board out, replaced in old unit... worked like a charm after tweaking a few of the settings.

Wanted to clean up the wiring but it is just too freaking cold. That's on my to-do list when the weather warms up a bit in a week or two... lol.

Stapled behind some insulation in your garage!

Thanks Leanna, he was old at 16 years and quite ill, so a blessed relief really. It was just his time to check out.

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

I replaced the battery in my car. If you're not in a hurry and like to tinker simply for the sake of tinkering, then it's a twenty minute job that can take a couple hours if you do it right! It's not just a matter of removing the old battery and putting in another one. If you're truly "tinkering"' then you'd pull out the old battery, clean the battery holder, vacuum out the tray and surrounding area, chase the threads on the J-bolts and their accompanying nuts, clean the corrosion and surface rust off the hold down clamp and re-paint it hi gloss black, and clean the crud from the terminals. Now, put it all back together. A twenty minute job that took about two hours. Quality time in the garage. Nice!

Re: What did you do in your garage today?

Finally cleared out next to my garage to put my twin axle car hauler back in place after months of it not being there. I had to pick the coldest windiest day of the year I think.

Assembled my 30" HF magnetic sweeper and the wife went over it a couple times. Found a half dozen nails from the debris I had just moved. Better before the trailer was there than in the tires.

I cleaned up and organized under my new bench yesterday.

Cleaned up the corner area.

I haven't seen this bench top in a long time.

Today I washed and waxed my wife's hot rod.

Spent the afternoon trimming bushes and raking leaves outside. Then replaced the wobbly front casters on my HF mig welder cart with heavier duty ones. The HF ones were all loose and missing some of the ball bearings. Thanks Nonhog for making me remember they needed replacing.

Worked on my railing. Got the 4x4's all notched and got it mocked up. Guess I'm going to do one across the top while I'm at it.
