I've got more than a dozen, from a few ounces to a full-length BFH of several pounds.

As mentioned, there are hard-face dead blow, lead, bronze, brass, soft face plastic, full soft face/handle and rawhide, among others.

Problem with rawhide is the new faces are mondo expensive.

+1 on the replacements. They probably cost twice as much as I paid for the hammer - of course that was 35 years ago.

I use mine most often to properly seat gears when a using a proper pusher is a little much.

Peter, you truly are German Engineered! Pushing 70 and doing that kind of gruntwork. Must be the years of lugging around flight cases to and fro and circular breathing exercises. :beer:

Anything I want to hit without scarring. It is much easier than a metal hammer and a block of wood
