Just curious. They're kinda pricey out there.. Anyone build anything to house their hardware? Pics would be nice! Thanks
There are a number of threads with lotsa good info on here. Try the search engine...
And welcome aboard!
My Dad helped me build an organizer for my shop a long time ago. It's made from 2x's, 1x's and masonite.
You can see it to the right hand side of the photo.
Wow that's great! so do the little "cubbys" have a lip on them to prevent the hardware from falling out?
Yes, I have strips of masonite that stick up an inch or so, works great!
I bet! Approximately what are the dimensions of each cubby?
They are various sizes. I'll have to get measurements and post them.
This is how I handled part of my problem.

Where on earth did you get that many coffee cans?

Hahahaha.
I've got three times that count in Kraft clear parmasean cheese containers. LOL.
If you work in a large office or in a job-site office where they are too cheap to buy Wallingford or service brand coffee, they can go thru one or two of those red Folgers containers a week!
One year @ 1 a week =52.
One year @ 2 a week =104.
I've got a dozen Tidy Cat yellow bins I keep used and various car and bike parts in that I get 1 or two a month from friends who pitch them. Handle, lid, load-rated, free. Ha!!!!!
Only ***** on both containers is that they are not clear.
Label-makers or adhesive labels + a Sharpie are your friends.

I work at a Senior Living Community as a Maintenance Tech. I guess i could go through the recycling and find everything I need there.
Overall, the unit is about 51" wide and 93" tall. The sides are made from 2x 10's with 1" blocking on the inside to support the ends of the shelves which are also 1". I have masonite dividers dadoed into the shelves and 2" masonite strips nailed to the front of the shelves which makes for a lip of about 1" to hold items in.
I have one full length shelf on the top which is about 12" high.
Below that, eight rows of eleven cubbys. Each is about 4" wide by 5 1/2" high.
Below that, one row of four holes, about 12" high and 11 1/2" wide.
At the bottom, one row of three holes, about 12" high and 15 3/8" wide.
All are roughly 9" deep.
Here is a little better pic.
Make friends with the kitchen help for any bulk food containters they recycle and ask if any occupants have cats and just ask them to set aside the containers as you see them.
I've seen people set things aside in every industry ( everything from egg boxes to wood pallets and more) . It's there. Just need to save it before it goes to the recycler.
Funny thing is, I used to be a server in the kitchen![]()
LOL>
Bulk spices like those from GFS ,Sysco etc. come in clear containers with a flip lid and most food purveyors, restaurants and those with high volume food service (assisted living, schools, etc) go thru them like candy.
Black Pepper, granulated garlic, lemon pepper, oregano, etc.
Clear, lock lid and usually a pitch away from thier stand point .

The pic bins on the countertop are HF items...I think $29 each?? The bin storage at the far end was, I think, $100 at Costco?
I don't keep a ton of stuff on hand as I live literally one city block from two parts stores one of which is also the largest trailer dealer in the county.
What I do have is kept in the three organizers below. Home Depot, $12 each.
I own a Jeep so I have more electrical parts than hardware.
