What do your Storage Cabinets look like?

Hi Kevin, they are steel. The one in the first shot on the back wall is a second one. I bought them at Costco. They are a strong steel base with the butcher block type top.
They're very easy to move around as needed too. You know how things change in a garage. New projects or different size toy/projects.

I've had these almost 3 years now and they've been working great. So I'm still glad I got them.

That looks great. Very pro. Did you roll, spray, or rattle can the paint on? I've got a few posts with my fridge in it, but your job looks really nice.

Rustoleum rattle can for the three colors. Hammered for the silver and black, and safety red in enamel for the box.

I picked up this one a couple of days ago at a state surplus property sale. It came from the Texas Department of Public Safety (our highway patrol). It is heavier gauge steel than a standard office cabinet, and it already had a hasp installed for a padlock.

Melliot28...Is that a metal garage behind those cabinets? I have a metal framed garage and battle with ideas on how to build racks/shelves. Did you screw the plywood to the metal framing? Did you have to put additional metal beams for the 4x8 plys? just curious, looks good.

Nope. It is simple 2 car attached. Sorry, wish I had some advice to offer you.

We've got a 6 foot wide Strong Hold cabinet at work. Got the forklift driver to move it for me, then he tried to give it the last little shove with his shoulder. That was a mistake.

Pusbi2, The metal beams run horizontal on the floor, 4 ft, and 8 ft mark. So the 4x8 sheet gets attached at each. I also used decking clips in between each of the sheets at the 2 and 6 ft mark. This would work with either plywood or osb, but not enough support for sheetrock.

Single car garage, so space is a premium. here is a 360 deg tour of my storage.

I have open storage for larger items (and hot and cold water at the garage door)

Tire storage for 2 sets of snows and a set of race tires, with storage under the tireracks.

Recycling centre for the bluebox. More closed storage...this is where we keep our garden hand tools, fertilizer, seed, gloves etc... (oh, did I mention I'm not a fan of open storage...?)

I built more pantry space on the back of the door that leads to our crawl space

I also built shelving for my car care products in the little room that leads to the crawlspace. Because this space is considered "open" to the living space, the door has weather stripping all around which is really good at keeping dust out when I am doing woodworking etc... I call it my "clean room"...perfect for carcare products. There is also more pantry on the left.

I have a little nook in the garage which is where I built my workbench. I incorporated a tool cabinet into the workbench.

The ONLY place my table saw would fit and still allow me to get a car in the garage was in this nook, so I came up with this big drawer to store it in. Storing it upright provides me with room to put my mitre saw stand in the nook as well.

Mobile mitre saw stand with more closed storage and fold out wings.

Small tool divider I built (sorry, no before pic, but it was a mess!)

French cleat system for tools and other loose items.

So far it has held up very well. I have no burn marks or melting of any sort. I have been making a driving simulator seat set up and most of it has been done directly on the floor. Time will tell but there is a 10 year warranty on the floor. The premier garage rep said if it was damaged it would be covered. I hope I don't have to see if they will or not

T Frost, I like everything about your storage ideas and frankly, I'm gonna copy them! Excellent you've got both hot AND cold water run to the front of the garage.Great to have hot water for the occasional greasy clean up.

Man, I can relate to the closed storage comment. I'm in an old neighborhood with mature fruit trees and lots of ground cover, i.e. "Heaven" for rats! I'm ALWAYS cleaning up after those critters. Traps, poison, etc, it ALL works but only for awhile.

The foam insulation on the doors is so simple I should have already thought of it. I get dust on everything; even in closed storage.

Decent, consistent looking used kitchen cabinets; much less Lista cabinets are out of my price range so I've been finding used C-Man base cabinets, cleaned and painted them a consistent color scheme and viola! Bench bases/cabinets....for the cheap guy, like me!

Is everything left natural for a reason (looks clean and orderly - I like!) or do you have some kind of sealer on it that doesn't show?

I actually use the hot water more for washing the cars...especially in the winter when it's near freezing outside. I'm a little crazy when it comes to keeping the cars clean.

I designed and built all the cabinetry to fit the space. I thought about looking on CL for kitchen cabinets, but in the end decided custom fit was the way to go to make the best use of the limited space.

It is essentially a big drawer on 24" full extension slides, with a little wheel on the underside of drawer to help support the drawer on full extension. I had to leave one side of the drawer open to get the saw in and out, so its essentially a 3 sided drawer with a sort of box structure as a base to make it as rigid as possible. The saw is a Bosch 4000 contractor saw which is what I used to make all the cabinets.

I liked the idea of the matching grain on the cabinets and that's why I left them natural. I do like it alot, but if I move and do another garage, I would spray everything, probably light gray uppers and dark gray lowers. It's too much work to do now, so I will leave them natural.

The counter is two sections 108" each. I siliconed the seam on the ends but left the top visual seam open. I did that to seal any fluids from running down between the 2 panels.

I've posted this before in my garage build, which I admit I've been seriously lacking at updating and well really doing anything in the garage to show off.

Its an older Blue Print Drawing Cabinet. Boeing used to occupy several 100 acres near where I live and they had a testing facility. When they left several items remained and I was afforded the chance to peak in and I saw this. Its easily 4+ feet wide and at least 4 or more feet deep. Weighs a ton and took at least 4 people to help me carry it in and place it on the ground. I've since moved it and got smart and took all the drawers out first and it only took two of us to move it. LOL

This is my grinder stand/pieces and parts holder.

Basically an old useless shelf lagged to the wall. Doesn't vibrate at all.
