What dod the big box stores use on their concrete floors in the stores?
Is ia sealer? Would it hold up in a hobby car garage?(torch splatter)

What dod the big box stores use on their concrete floors in the stores?
Is ia sealer? Would it hold up in a hobby car garage?(torch splatter)
They use an industrial concrete contractor with really cool ride on concrete grinders. Everything is specified and planned from the start.
All else is minor.

Once the initial power-trowel slick-trowel is done...
They maintain using a Diamabrush Polishing head on floor machines.
They use products like our HD40 Concrete StainGuard to keep it looking snappy!!
They do get a full fledged touch-up every now and again by outside contractors.

The don't use a product, what they are doing is polishing the concrete with grinders as noted above. They go over the floor with finer and finer diamond pads and densify and add a sealer that gets burnished. This process is normally too expensive for residential applications, plus it doesn't have great resistance to oils, fluids, etc.

If you like that 'look', use our clear SPGX polyurea hybrid one part coating. It gives a nice sheen while being very easy to apply.

Lowes, Home Depot , big box stores polish OLD floors, the early stores. The new stores look they way they do because of how the concrete is finished and treated immediately after finishing.
They would go broke polishing all the new stores!
THD started 98-99 with polishing in existing stores. As time progressed the finishing techniques improved tremendously. This all started in the Northeast region and yours truly was the salesman who got them onboard!!

If your floor is highly burnished, and wont' absorb water it will need prep most likely be light grinding (a rented Diamabrush from Home Depot could work well for this to scratch it up and abrade).

Ghostshield densifer/sealer system will seal your floor from oils and liquids, and since it is a penetrating sealer it won't change the finish or look of the concrete at all, so it will handle welding slag and such.
Any topical coating like an epoxy, polyurea, etc is subject to burn marks from welding slag. Sparks should be find on a coating, slag can cause minor damage so if you go that route use welding blankets or sheet metal to protect the floor.
