What extractors work the best?

So I’m just about done with school at which I’m in a manufacture program and I’m going to start my career at a dealer. I have been working on building my tool box up. I have been ordering mainly SO since I get such a great discount and there’s a corporate rep here four days a week so he’s always here to take my money. I just ordered the SO TDM117A metric only tap and die set and would like to know what’s the best type of extractors to compliment that set. Thanks guys

I have a set like this, only it is rebadged MAC. I bought the set many years ago, they are made in USA, and they work perfectly.

The best set is the one you don't have to use! On that note since I started using lefthanded drill bits to remove broken studs I have only had to use an extractor a couple of times. So whatever extractor you get drill the hole with a lefthanded bit and you'll find a lot of times the extractor is not necessary. Better if you get the screwmachine length bits, shorties.

The straight fluted extractors work great,they don't expand the broken piece of a bolt or screw.The spirals tend to do this a lot,expand the fastner and can be a real pita.

I totally forgot about left-handed drill bits, I have used them before when I used to work on automatic doors and they are defiantly a time saver. I also have been looking at drill index’s so I guess I should add left-handed bits to the list. On another note I’m also curious about drills, what’s my best option as a new mech, pneumatic or electric drill?

Yeah thats one of them, I believe this is the Snappy equivelent. Same Comparison can be Made for there Tap and Die sets..

Good choice, I have that set also and, although I have broken one, they have always done their job (except for that one time....).

The trick is to not apply too much force, Youre already in a hairy situation and breaking off an extractor in a freshly drilled hole is enough to send anyone over the edge. If you ever find yourself frustrated with a broken bolt, just walk away and find something else to do.

I like that they're slightly springy, so they flex to warn you instead of just breaking without warning.
