On a friend's forest land south of Greenwood we pulled this from the mud of a small stream. The stream is so small, the stream head was within 50 yards of this find. Now we are trying to figure out what it is.

I'm thinking it is the firebox of a wood or coal stove. The three longer fingers might support a grate on the bottom and the shorter fingers might allow airflow for the fire. This seems to be cast iron and it is metallic.

After knocking out a stone that was wedged between a couple of the fingers I left the hammer there to give you an idea of this thing's size.

It looks to me like an intentionally bottomless planter. Like something that goes at the bottom of a tree that's actually too big for a pot! I see 3 feet. And the teeth looks intentional

I think its a vacuum nozzle off a Vactor truck, aka sewer vacuum or a hydro-excavator. The ring portion of it looks like its a type of groove-lock coupler. The idea is that they are used to break up packed debris in storm sewer boxes/manholes but still allow airflow to carry debris up the (8"-10"?" vacuum hose

It would make sense that you might find one if a creek if a crew lost one while cleaning storm drains.

- First post, looonnnngg time lurker. Maybe I'll make it official and drop by the introduction section.

A local guy believes this is a dredging bucket that was fastened into place by the 3 tabs on the toothy end. I plan to de-rust and prepare for paint, so it will be interesting if any cast text appears.

Of all the theories posted I believe I like best it being a thrust cone off of Mig17. Wouldn't that be cool!

I'll show more photos after it's cleaned up.
