Doing some water line work in my basement. Adding a larger water holding tank and a water filter system. This is on the main water line from my well, I have a submerse well pump. Is this anti drain back valve? and If I relocate it can it be vertical? I am working in a tight spot. Also can a well pump on-off pressure switch be relocated anywhere as long as it is line pressure? Thanks, Ron

Correct on the swing check and it can be installed in the vertical as long as the flow (arrow) is going up with the flow so when flow stops the water falling back will close the check. The big nut on top is so you can replace the seat and disc.

Swing checks can be installed vertically, not sure why someone would say they couldn't be. It looks like a swing check.

I've installed many swing checks like that in a vertical position on fire department connections.

On dry systems? I could see that on a wet system where system pressure holds it closed.....****, You got me confused now. I'll check NFPA 13.
