I have seen this before but can't remember. Maybe a hydrant tool? There is no name or markings on it, by the way I found it in the street.

Looks and sounds right, although I thought that they had a pentagon shaped "nut" on them.

looks like a removable crank handle for old factory buildings with the crank-open dormer windows.

There is one for sale on E-Pay that has a triangular hole but its only 9" long. Im pretty much just guessing at this point.
