Pretty sure it's a bench vise. Can you open it?

If not, a clamp.

This looks like its also unknown brother, but has lots of more bits on the one face. Does yours have similar bits, or broken off faces there?

With the more detailed views in the ebay listing, it looks like a hold down for a vise, similar to a Versa Vise mount. But I've only had 10 minutes, may take a bit longer to find stuff out. ;)

I guess no one knows..okay thanks

Less than 10 hours and you are throwing in the towel? Oh the force is weak in this one. Some people haven't even been on since you posted.

I will just add. 5 posts total post history and nothing but questions, and in 9 hrs you seem to be frustrated that you don't have an answer?

I was sure this was the elusive Saw Set . . .

Weighs 6 ounces. The cork-like stuff can be wiggled a bit and might be removable. Seemed to be plumb bobish initially. Extra set of threads means it's part of something. A Google picture search had lots of similar things, but nothing quite right. Surely we'll fine a use for it, eventually.

Build a cane kit? You supply the tube.

Is the texture to the cork maybe an ink blotter?
Fancy light finial?

Part of a Grandfather clock weight? At 6oz, it does seem a little light for that.

Mine is a bit different. And what do you do with the stuff you smoke? I was going to do a Blues Clues.

What is the ball on yours, almost looks like the recess is for chalking the tip.
I guess a person could keep chalk in it. But more like a stash location.
