Greetings. Can anyone shed some light on this tool. A file holder for filing edges perhaps. No makers ID or numbers. I would like to know the age and where it was made. Thanks

It's called a saw jointer, for leveling the teeth on saw blades, as part of the sharpening process.

They would also need a saw blade vise and a hand full of files to sharpen and retooth a hand saw which is what that blade jointer is for. Old time carpenters were skilled enough that they learned how to make a hand saw in school for being a carpenter apprentice. There was no Home Depot in 1900 and my grandfather graduated in 1906 and was s journey man carpenter as a profession, then farming.
