What should I buy for my noodle/pasta machine? All my current cans are for cars.

For parts that need lubrication, I would not suggest most "edible" oils. Especially olive oil, or any highly unsaturated oil. The more unsaturated an oil is, the faster it will go rancid. Rancid oil is not only toxic, but is also tacky (so an awful lubricant).

The food grade silicone suggested above is ok, I guess. I'm actually a huge fan of CRC Heavy Duty Silicone spray (funny that the link says CNC). Walmart is the cheapest source, and this is the BEST lock and car door seal lubricant I've found. But it may be too thin to be a suitable lubricant for your pasta roller. Do the instructions suggest using an oil (this is not)? Also, while it is safe for incidental food contact (AFTER drying), I wouldn't suggest eating it. Still, the silicone left behind is the same stuff that's found on baking parchment, and other food grade "release" treated surfaces.

You could use a food grade USP mineral oil. This BTW is better for oiling wood cutting boards as stuff marked for the purpose at three times the price and up. This has no odor (it is baby oil, without the perfumes added), is EDIBLE (not just rated for incidental contact, it is actually sold as a laxative too), does not go rancid or dry (so it will never get sticky), etc.

If you wanted another option, I would suggest coconut oil. This is what's normally used for movie theater popcorn, so yeah, you can eat it. It is fully saturated, so does not go rancid, and is kind of a greasy solid at room temperature.

That is some good stuff. I know Snap On used it (they still may) in their ratchets, and S&G used it to lubricate their dial combination safe locks.

Butchering primal cuts of meat and baking bread is a hobby of mine...

something about growing the tomatoes, making the dough, rolling and baking the bread, making the mayo, cutting the roast beef or ham and smoking it yourself makes the sandwich taste that much better. I am sure if I did it as a job I would hate it, lol But I love making bread, pizza, pasta {I make my own ravioli, noodles, gnocchi, etc}, roast beef, ham, soon I will be making cheeses....

ANYWAY, check out that lube, it works for me...

In the restaurants we use Taylor 47518 for stuff that won't be cleaned after every use. We just use canola food release spray for things that will. That Superlube looks identical to the Taylor stuff. It comes out as a clear paste. Similar in consistency to Vaseline.

vaseline for grease applications. Mineral oil aka cutting board oil, for light oils. don't use vegetable oils, olive, canola, etc as they all go bad. Super lube is PTFE in something similar to vaseline (thick mineral oil). So Super lube is compatible with mineral oil. You want a non-drying oil
