I'm still getting Rod and Custom, but I'm probably going to let that one run out soon.

I need to renew my subscriptions to Flat Out and Sprint Car & Midget...also want to get Hot Rod Deluxe.

I've never been one to subscribe to magazines but I have picked up some from book stores on a pretty regular basis over the years. JP Magazine (Jeeps) and Inside Lacrosse are ones I currently get. Most of my reading is done on the internet.

A little off topic but, I have an extensive automotive library that I don't use nearly as much as I once did, again because of the internet. I have tried to sell books at flea markets and on line. Apart from the rare books and manuals, I think the value of them has dropped considerably due to the easy access people have to information now.

After reading, Desired articles cut out and filed then mags are given to various friends depending on their interests, where they go from there I do not know. One of my best friends is a painter at a decent sized body shop and they pester me for most of my recycling. They have like 30 some employees and last time I was in their breakroom there were stacks of my old mags. (First thing I do when I get a mag is cut off or remove the address label and shred, no particular reason just thought it might be prudent)

How do you find the time to read all those ? :headscrat

Well lets see .

Classic Trucks
Custom Classic Trucks
Street Rodder
Rod & Custom

I pick up any others I may see from time to time that have something in them worth reading .

Rick

Hemmings
Hemmings Sports & Imports
Hemmings Classic Car
Street Rod
Rod & Custom

I reup every year at Moultrie, GA swapmeet. When I reup I normally get a bunch of Hemmings stuff, T-Shirts, hats, knives etc and the cost is cheap. The Rod Magazine, both for around $15 for a year - $7.50 EACH! I spend around $60 for everything, $1 a magazine and then the extras, well worth it.

Thats the same way I do my subscriptions . I get 3 year subscriptions to all of my magazines at The Streetrod Nationals and it works out to a $1.00 an issue or less and I get all the cool swag when I do it :D.

Single and no kids so my time is my own. Live in an apartment so no shop yet although if all goes correctly that will change on the 17th. Watch little tv and with around 30 days in a month and if you skip ads you still have time for GJ.

PS Check my post count. Although I read many threads I don't spend much time typing.

Home Workshop Machinist (or something like that) is the only one still running. I never renew a subscription. They never live up to my original expectation, and I look forward to them expiring.

+1 on Machinist Workshop but I am letting it expire. Used to just check it out at Barnes and Noble and only buy it if there was something of interest in it. Subscribing was a waste. Three quarters of the articles are of no interest. I guess I will just go back to checking it out at B&N.

dont like any magazines now, early 00's car craft was cool, they focused on lower budget stuff

I miss how the early '00s Car Craft was, low budget builds that made great power for the money invested, junkyard tech, and the like. They now run a little deal in the back called junkyard builder that has actually pretty good ideas if you don't want to spend a whole lot on some little projects like relay boxes, p/s coolers, factory oil filter relocators and the like.

If anyone is into camping and/or offroading you should check out Overland Journal. Its a great magazine although you might be hard pressed to find it kn your local bookstore. You can goto their website for a free trial version of an older copy of it. The paid subscription is a bit pricey but it is a quality read every time.

what the h?! no one here enjoy's "backwoodsman" magazine? full of goofy, hokey ideas about living cheap in the woods, with no real aim? where anyone can send in articles such as "homemade hard cider" or " my 1.06 rifle"?

man, i am feelin like a real hick right about now.

I get 4WOR too, but its getting stupid. 5 years ago they seemed focused on reality. anymore they seem to want to build trucks that will fly into space, with a similar budget. I liked their "cheap truck challenge" a lot better. More realistic beating on a truck you bought for a couple grand. not building one for more than the cost of your house, than wrecking it. JP magazine seems to be better in this reguard, and their editors write with humor as well. they really understand how to build a realistic project vehicle, like that haitari cj6, or the s#it J-7, that whopped out rotten cj 7 they resurected from the dead for some low cost beer drinkin fun on the farm.

someone needs to make a magazine called " cheap grease monkey" with various projects that are cheap and entertaining. I am sick of being told to spend big money.

i came to the conclusion a long time ago that i'm a cheapass. :lol_hitti

theres things that i'll spend money on, and things i wont. my s-10 is one that i dont spnd money on.
i built that truck with mostly used parts, and scrap, the only new parts i bought were guages, prolites, handfull of AN fittings, ujoints, brake pads brake lines, headers, & exhaust system.

hit a rock, sideswipe a tree?

it's not that i dont care, but i dont have to drive the damn thing to work the next day.
yep she's a trailer queen :shocking:

Who needs magazines? The internet is on computers now and nothing beats browsing the Garage Journal form on my iPad while taking a ****.
