I thought I had read some where that you should use a 1/4" nap roller for laying epoxy but all I can find locally is 3/8". Should I find 1/4"?

I had the same problem. Ordered some of internet site. Wooster mohair blend, 1/4" part number R207, that's the 18" roller.

I used 3/8 Nap rollers, but it might depend on the epoxy that you are using. I might be wrong, but my floor came out awesome.

good luck

This depends on how you are installing the floor. Many companies recommend the 1/4" Wooster Mohair naps when the coating is being poured onto the floor and then backrolled. The Mohair naps are smoother and you get less nap hairs in your finish. The longer the nap the more likely you are to get nap hairs in the finish. It is important that you get shed resistant naps!!!

The size of the nap you need not only depends on how you are installing the coating but also on the desired coating thickness. When you are dipping and rolling out of a roller pan or bucket you can control thickness in part by the size of the nap. A 3/4" nap will put the coating out thicker than a 1/4" nap...

The best advice is to follow the instructions in your kit or ask the manufacturer if it is unclear.

Don't forget to post pics of your work!

Actually, you are! Just got all my stuff from Fred.
I got the squeege so I'm going to spread with that then back roll. I found a good price online and ordered a 6 pack of the 1/4". I'll defuz the rollers with tape before use.

I could only get 3/8" epoxy safe rollers locally for a 9" roller frame. I ended up getting an 18" roller frame and the 1/4" Wooster Mohair R207 covers that were mentioned earlier. That set up worked great. 18" roller covers a lot of ground in a hurry.

Cool! That sounds like a good plan!
