At the shop we have 3 older cordless DeWalt drills. Two 18 volt XRP, and a 14.4 volt. The 14.4 just doesn't work anymore and the battery is no good. As for the 18 volts, both work however, the clutch slips on both. Also, one has a broken chuck. There are also to 18 volt batteries no longer any good.
I know it would cost too much to rebuild them. Anyone know of anything to do with them? Keep them for parts? Is any place taking broken power tools in part trade for new? Does any place buy them for recycling? Anything useful they could be used for? Would it be worth getting at least the 18 volt batteries rebuilt? We use a lot of 18 volt DeWalt tools.
I searched for an old thread on this topic. Found one. But there wasn't much there. Maybe I'll end up with the same result. But I thought it'd be worth a shot.
