It depends on where you are; there may or may not be a reasonably local company doing plastics recycling that can do something with it.

For example, this is a company here in Indianapolis:
At the consumer level, curbside recycling is pretty uneven around here, but there are dropoff options for plastics and other recyclables.

If there is, then you'll need to make sure it stays clean (no cardboard or paper) and dry and either transport it or make arrangements to have it picked up.

It may take a bit of added effort, but it's definitely worth trying to keep this stuff out of landfills.

Judging by things I have ordered off the internet, some people wad it up and use it as packing materials in boxes.

Thanks for the replies, but I meant re-use rather than recycle.

Like people do with old pallet wood and various other materials?

The packaging one is a good idea...

I have used it under things I paint, but never anything real big.

Plastic does not recycle very well at all, and the types that can are very few. IIRC China stopped doing it as it was not cost effective. That should tell you something right there.

WalMart stores recycle what comes to the stores
there is "first thing to do" for the 3 shift crew called "pulling plastic"
they collect all the shipping plastic and it goes to a compactor for return to the local ware house

We have much smaller volumes and we can recycle it with our plastic shopping bags at the grocery store.

We also have a recycling resource that takes potato chip foil bags and any non-stretchy plastic. White styrofoam packing, foam food containers, tooth brushes, old gym shoes and loads of hard to recycle stuff. They are only opened a few times a month, so we have to make a special trip.

It gets run through the stove here and heats my shop and house. Mixed in a little at a time this **** along with two bales worth of netwrap each day and it doesn't smoke any more than wood alone. Seems bonkers but it burns just fine with no apparent stink or smoke. I don't fill the stove up by any means and make sure it's sandwiched under some wood.

So it's recycled into hot water and warm buildings around here. Probably only a couple 55gal barrels a year for volume so not that much.

The place I used to work had a shredder that they'd shread all the incoming stuff into approximately 1x6" pieces and use it as packing material. It worked very well for them and saved huge on dumpster fees for the ****. They used to fill a 10yd rolloff A WEEK with wrap alone. Now it gets sent to someone else to deal with so they can likely throw it away instead.

In regards to pallets, there's someone near here (way outside of town) where he got a bunch of used pallets and built himself a fence out of standing up the pallets, all around his ~2 acre property. He even flipped every other pallet, vertical, horizontal, etc.

They do that at LA homeless camps.

Roll it up in big bundles and make yourself "beanbag" furniture for the break room. You could also bundle it up into a huge nest, to hide in and read, instead of working.

This is more like I had in mind!

We have wrapped the happy couples' car at their wedding reception.

This isn't! I've seen this done, and unless the car is spotless, the wrap will drag any dirt across the paint causing scratches.

Don't get me wrong, it was funny at first sight, and I didn't like the guy on the receiving end, but still...
