The HF Ball Joint separator. This past weekend had to replace tie rods on 1992 Chevy 2500. Joint on upper link was tight. Could not get a good swing at it with a hammer. The pickle fork tore off the tie rood and just left the studs stuck. Air Hammer was just tearing up the stud because of poor angle. No room for other type of puller.
Quick trip to HF. Less than $20 and it was out after a few cranks with the ratchet. Sounded like a gun shot when it gave. To be honest I thought the tool broke. Nope, took out the other side the same way.

Tough choice, but I will have to go with either my milwaukee model 20 floor jack or the full drawer snap on side cabinet. The milwaukee jack is such a simple, yet "it just works" design.

A locking adjustable wrench, had never seen one before (would have bought it on the spot if I had) but discovered it on Amazon (for $15)...very handy for square plugs, damaged fasteners, plumbing fittings, etc. Only one of my gearhead pals at beernight had ever seen one, am surprised retailers don't carry them, would guess that they would sell well.

Bessey vices at lowes (as others have stated). The drill press vice I bought makes a lot of my incidental projects much easier to handle.

I didn't get my purchase of the year yet. When it happens it will be a cordless 1/2 impact gun. Possibly IR or Snap On. I hate using the compressor for quick stuff, but all I have is air guns right now.

I'm a big Snap-On guy, and best purchase lately, although I have 3 already, is the ratcheting screwdriver! best investment I ever made.

I bought my first one over 20 years ago but I would have to agree that SnapOn ratcheting screwdriver is probably the best and most useful tool I've ever bought!

My wife, who normally couldn't care less about tools (and is very tight with money), insisted that I buy her one after she used mine on a project she was working on. That was even after I told her the price (~$40 BNIB off the truck back then IIRC?). Trust me, for her to want me to spend $40 on a screwdriver is unreal. Just shows how sweet they are.

As for things I've bought this year, too early to say for sure but I think it will be the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 3/8" impact wrench I recently acquired. It may end up being the Milwaukee M12 Fuel 1/4 hex impact driver assuming I actually get the funds to pick on up this year!

Is the snap on significantly better than the Craftsman red hard handled one? Because I have the latter, and really like it, and don't think it's a bad tool at all. I bought it to try it; I find that I use it a lot more than I thought that I would. So am considering upgrading to SO but find it hard to believe that it's so much better than the Cman because the Cman is already pretty good IMHO. Or is it one of those tools like a Dual 80 where it's flat out awesome and makes everything that you thought was good before seem crappy?

Back in May I started selling off my Snap On stuff and replaced it with Wright Tool equivalents. Also my Harbor Freight 44" top & bottom are new.

This GJ website is a new tool as well, never knew of Harry Epstein and have seen many other cool tools I'll be adding to my boxes. This site is very dangerous to my wallet though.

Redback Easy Escapes are the best boots!!!!! I just got my Easy Escapes, and damn are they comfortable! I bought a pair of these and a pair of Blundstone 510's to alternate through out the week. The difference is like night and day!! I just started as an Audi Tech, so im on my feet for about 9-10 hours. What I did was purchase these boots and try them on after work. My Feet where swollen and tired. The Easy Escapes from Redback Felt the BEST. My feet felt comfortable and relaxed. I ordered the the Redback Leather inner sole inserts and did the same 4 days later. I tried them on after a long shift, and wow could you feel a difference! I recommend the the Redback Easy Escapes. I hope they keep making them in Australia and not overseas like the Blundstone Boots. I will definitely buy another pair of these!

I bought the earlier model that only came with 2 straight and 2 Phillips bits. Then when Torx came out (yes, I am from "before there was Torx") i bought the same tool with 4 torx bits.

When the red handled one with the block of bits came out I bought 4 of them. I can live without the ratcheting handle and keep a whole lot of money in my pocket.

These really are not a replacement for good screwdrivers, but they are great for a small travel tool kit/kitchen junk drawer/glove box. I really like the magnetic capability.

Pretty sure I got them this year and not last year, but today I finally got to use my jumper cables. Girl at work is having issues with the charging system on her car and hasn't had time to get it checked out, she wants to take it to the dealership since she has a warranty and it should be taken care of for free. She has dinky little cheapo copper clad aluminum cables from Walmart and was having problems getting her car jumped with them. So I pull out some heavy duty pure copper cables and hook them up and her car starts right up without any hesitation. Hopefully she'll remember that paying for quality pays for itself in nothing flat.
