in all seriousness though...
Kroil, PB Blaster, LPS #1, CRC Knock 'er Loose, PB-50, and this special telephone cleaner spray are all things I find extra handy, besides the usual WD-40, loctite, glue, etc.
Brake cleaner. I can't live without it. I use it to clean almost everything, including my hands. I also keep Kroil and/or Mopar Rust Penetrant very close by at all times.
Here's my list, probably forgetting something though.
Loctite sticks (red & blue) maybe some types of liquid too.
hi-temp antisieze (nickle base)
pipe thread compound, good stuff, Permatex or Loctite
Dielectric grease
CRC freeze & release (penatrating oil) works really well
Brake cleaner
Mac's (Napa brand) carb cleaner
CRC electronic contact cleaner
CRC engine store (fogging small engines ete..)
Lubriplate marine & auto guard oil (spray can)
simple green
acetone and or lacquer thinner
Black (500*) RTV
JB weld
super glue
Duct tape and WD40! If it moves and shouldn't - duct tape, if it doesn't move and should - WD40! Forget about Super Glue, it works on so little it's not worth buying (and it's bond can be broken just by a sharp hit!).
So far it looks like Monte's photo is the only remote reference to Ballistol. Personally, if I ever ran out of the stuff, I wouldn't even bother to turn the lights on until I got some more. I became a fan about 10 years ago, and my enthusiasm for it grows constantly. http://www.ballistol.com/ The only downside might be its odor.....young guys around my shop have told me it smells like really strong "ditch weed", I, of course, wouldn't know. I think one of its best properties is its value as a penetrant. I admit, I've never used the acetone/ATF mix trick, but I'll bet Ballistol can hold its own against it. Try it, you'll like it!
