I make a list every year at the request of my mother in law with promises she will share it among the family. And just like the previous years she will never even look at it. Much less buy anything from it.

I'll get pants that are too tight and shirts that are too big. Usually from the same person. Always confuses me how you think I need a 3x shirt but can wear a 34 inch waist.

I'll get atleast one tool that's so common and basic it's a duplicate of a duplicate of a duplicate of a duplicate. Examples include a 6 in 1 screwdriver from my brother in law who was excited to show me how you could take it apart and change bits.

Atleast one bag of candy that I dont like.

But hey you can return all that stuff and it's about the time spent together and the fact they cared enough to try.

I'm going to ask for some 10 mm sockets.

Probably some clothing too. Wife says the panhandlers on the corner are better dressed than I am. If I get a new shirt, it'll have a hole or a tear within a week, new pants will get a random stain the first time I wear them.

You guys are no fun sometimes!

Five or ten years ago I would have been bummed out with clothes, now it's most of my list. Kind of hard to ask for "everything under 35 dollars that comes up when you search 'snapon 3/8' on ebay"

Chamois/Flannel shirts are alway appreciated. That's all I wear from mid October to mid April.
Same with jeans, I've yet to find a pair that doesn't wear through above the cuff, blow out the crotch, or otherwise tear or fail within 6 months to a year, and I rotate ~5 pairs a week.
Colored t shirts are on my list. It's dumb to me to wear graphic tees (which is most of my wardrobe, either charity, promotional, or brand t shirts) under a sweater or other layer, but I don't want to wear white t shirts either.

My dad always tries to find me tools I need but I've gotten to the point where I have most of what I need. If he asks me this year I'll just give him the snap on part number searches I have saved on ebay, lol. I borrowed a snap on 3/8 torque wrench the other day that was 5 to something like 150 or 200 in-lbs the other day. It said QJR-217 and "series B" but i've yet to see one for sale. If I find one pop up on ebay for under a hundred bucks I'll ask for that. My gearwrench one didn't go low enough to do the injector clamps on my truck.

As for gifts for other people, I'm going to get my dad some Cole Haan plain toe oxfords. I have a couple pairs of the originalgrand shoes (when I bought them they were lunargrand) and I love them and he's expressed interest in a pair. He likes to wear leather shoes to work but he's out walking around a lot and most of the other shoes he has either hurt his feet or are ugly (his thoughts) so I'm ordering him a pair of these because they have a nike running show sole, but are a classic plain toe oxford. They also have more elaborate ones but he wears jeans and a polo to work so wingips or any other brogues wouldn't work.

I'm still trying to figure out what to get my mom. She told me she wanted gym clothes but there's no fun in just getting her what she asked for, I gotta get something else. I'm thinking I steal her laptop and look in her amazon or williams sonoma browsing history for baking tools, she loves to bake and loves elaborate pans and other implements, same as I do with shop tools lol. She's not big on cooking, I do most of the dinners in the house, but she loves to bake sweets and treats for fun.

OP I hope you find something to ask for out of here lol. When in doubt, more tool storage is always a great gift. It seems I run out of space every single time I buy another tool box.

There are some really cool bakery cookbooks out there. Like Magnolia Bakery or La Brea.

Christmas present to myself this year is going to be a Handy SAM 1200 motorcycle lift. I’ve been wanting a lift for a while now. Also seriously considering a leftover stock Moto Guzzi to go with it.

Hopefully someone just gives me cash this year; nobody wants to give me KCToolCo gift cards :lol_hitti

I'm reaching the point where I'm pretty well set up in terms of tooling, now it's about getting money for materials and parts to do what I want. But of course, nobody in my family understands why I'd ever want to make the cars more aggressive/increase NVH.

Though I'd really like to get some nice Wera screwdrivers...

Most the stuff I need is too expensive to put on a Xmas list. But I do want a nice push broom for the garage. The Milwaukee die grinder and some pads would be cool. Menards gift cards, and beer.

Beer ... the universal gift. Maybe I'll ask for some New Glarus beers. I'll report on the wife's reaction when I ask for Two Women for Christmas.

Already ordered everything I had on my list.

Sunex Metric and SAE master 1/2 drive impact sets
Sunex stubby hex sockets
Sunex stubby wrenches
Plus probably a dozen or so Amazon and Sears purchases over the last few weeks.

Thought I was done. Updated all of my ratchets to the current 72 and 90 tooth options. Tekton, Icon, Carlyle, SK and Gearwrench.

Sunex 1/2 drive Torx impacts
Icon snap ring pliers
Icon 1/2 breaker bar
Vessel impact drivers
Hazet & SK screwdrivers

I think I'm done now. This forum has put the hurt on my wallet.

We're making a shadow box with a Ford wrench and some photos in it for Whatshername's brother and a wooden presentation box lined in black leather with a set of chrome Harley-Davidson wrenches for a close friend that helped us out and refused compensation.

Personally, I would like a set of 1/2" drive deep metric sockets and a decent set of torx screwdrivers. She knows where I shop.

I would like to do the same thing with a International Harvester theme and add some of my grandfather's memorabilia. He was a service manager at an IH dealer in Jackson Michigan.

Very nice. That would make an awesome family heirloom. Keep us abreast if you do it. I'd love to see it.

Unfortunately like most of you, my Christmas list contains several items that are beyond the budget of reality. I'd very much like a 32×48' shop on a .5-3 acre lot, but alas I live and work in the city currently.

I did have the occasion to ask for a new tool (set) while working on a set of spindles for my Grandmother's loft. I am reasonably assured that my Aunt will be purchasing a side of DeWalt sidestrike chisels for me.

Other smaller items include a new box of mechanics latex gloves, perhaps a bucket boss tool liner, Stanley sortmaster junior cases (I need about 10 more to fill out my rolling workstation), and some light duty 1-1/2" aluminum angle to complete the storage rack for said sortmaster case.

I'd love to get a couple of Japanese wood chisels. Clamps, as mentioned above, would be great. Most of what I want is way too expensive to ask for as a gift... spindle sander, band saw, either a new fence and miter gauge for my existing table saw or new table saw, miter saw, compressor, nail guns...

Got an M18 Random Orbit Sander, a 6 gallon pancake compressor, and a Kreg Accu-Cut for my birthday, so most of the Christmas list will now be various parts for my keezer build and barn renovation. Maybe a framing nailer would be useful too...add it to the Milwaukee showroom I've unintentionally been building in my shed.

I've been eying two things lately. First one was the new ARB JACK to replace my old Hi-Lift jack that I carry off-road. These things look amazing and definitely a huge step up over the Hi-Lift. I finally ordered myself one and it arrived last night.

Secondly I just ordered a pair of the KTC AD101 connector pliers that I've been waffling over.

Anything I can get! The problem is, everything I want cost too much money or it's something extra of what I already have. That probably sounds familiar for some of you too :headscrat

I bought a similar Porter Cable RoboToolz back in 2005. Mine is a 2 X 360 with red beams. It proved to be priceless when building my 28' X 56' shop, as well siding My Sons house out near Seattle. With the handheld sensor, I have used it to shoot landscape grades for ditching, and centerlines under a semi truck when doing alignments on a level floor. If You enjoy that gizmo 1/3 as much as I have enjoyed mine; You will be breaking into a smile whenever they are mentioned.
