Don't know what the temperature is, but I checked the mouse bucket which has RV antifreeze that's supposed to be good to -55 and it was mushy-frozen.:shocking: I'm sure it hasn't been that cold, but overnight temps have been in the -30C range the last few days. Can't wait to get the heat hooked up in there.

Mine is attached, insulated, but not heated. Usually stays about 30 degrees warmer than outside. So today it's about 0F, and the car thermometer said about 33 when I got in. I tell you, getting into a 33 degree car is worlds better than a 0 degree car!

At some point I'll have a heated garage, but not sure if it will be at this house or not (plan on moving in the next 3-4 years).

I went to my building yesterday morning and it was 7 F earlier when I got up and the high for the day was 15 F. My building has no heat running. When I got there it was 40 F inside. Love that spray foam insulation.

Generally I keep it at 64 degrees but the damned heat pump stopped working on Saturday (just in time for the cold front) so I've had to keep a kerosene jet heater running in there all weekend just to keep it above freezing. HVAC guy couldn't get through the ice today to work on it so I guess I need to go out and get another five gallons for tonight and tomorrow.

I'm in southwest OH, and I have a propane furnace with air conditioning for the summer if it gets too hot. My garage is 30'x40' with 12' ceilings. In the winter I keep the temp at 43 and if I'm inside working I boost it up to 65 deg.
When I use the air-conditioner in the summer the setting depends on the outside temp.

I JUST started heating my garage constantly 4 days ago, so I'm anxious to see my first gas bill. :S

Mine is a 26x26 Attached garage. 53 F Degrees is the setting on the thermostat when I turn on the heater, it normally stays about -12 degrees or warmer depending on the outside temps. I only turn on the heater when I am going to be working in there or to thaw out a vehicle with too much snow or ice build up.

I spent good money on insulation and it really paid off. Before it used to be -40 when the outside temp was -40, bit it very rarely gets colder than -12 even with the heat turned off.

Today I completed a test of my garage heater to see how quickly it heats the space. It is 12 degrees F (-12 C) outside and the garage was at 32F (0 C) when I turned on the heater. In 90 minutes it brought the garage to 53 F (12 C) which is what I had the thermostat set to. I am not sure if this is good or not but I found it interesting.... Shane and I are heading to the garage to play...

I found through trial and error, the gas bill is more manageable if I leave the thermostat set around 45-50ish and bump up to 65 for occupancy. Before I had tried shutting down completely and only heating when in the building. Actually used less gas keeping it on low and running it for comfort when needed.

Yes i agree.. invest in a programmable thermostat.. once the pad is warm, you will notice the heater will cycle less

36x24x12.. heated with a 45k Reznor style heater.. i usually keep it at 8 or 9*C during the day.. and 15-17*C when im working in there.. having a programmable thermostat is a good investment.... Next winter - solar heated in floor!! Screw you gas company!

13 degrees outside and in my roughly 28x35 insulated garage it is at 39 degrees currently. I have no heater installed yet but I do have two portable electric heaters I run when I go out there and then bump it up to 50 degrees and it is perfect for me to work in.

Attached 20'x awkward… insulated all around, not heated.

Its warm enough that I can't complain. When exterior temps and wind combine, it can actually freeze water in the garage…

Haven't frozen a water bottle this year. Currently in the single F outside temp, with 15mph winds (fortunately, hitting the other direction from the garage door).

If I rode my bicycles more often (and hence created projects by hamfisting my things into harder, more stationary, and stronger things) in between December and March, I'd get a space heater for my work space, but haven't gotten there yet.

24x30 insulated with a 16 ft garage door and a walk door, never had water freeze in it but I have had a couple of times where the door was frozen shut, like tonight. With air temps below 0 it will probably freeze in there tonight but it will be the first time.

I let the heater run for 45 minutes and it was almost up to 30*. At that point I said screw it and went inside the house.

19X19 with a 11ft ceiling part insulated, with insulated garage door. Got central heating rad's in there running off the house system. It normally sits about 16c (60F). Even when it was -3c outside it still maintained the 15 to 16c.

I am very please with it, but a bit reluctant to open the door for more than is really required.

Some of you guys need to install potbelly stoves in your garages. Brrrrrrrr.

If I'm not at work,I don't like to go outside when it's below 45 or so.

At 45 or so I'm getting out my shorts and sandals!

Well maybe not, but I do think of 45 and up as really good garage weather.
