Hi,

Can anyone tell me anything about this HUGE JoLine torque wrench?

It is a 3/4" drive, with up to 1600 ft. lb. and it's roughly 3 maybe 4 ft long.

I have to get rid of all the tools in my grandmas garage so she can move, but there are alot of things like this that I don't know anything about, where to go about selling it, or what I could hope to get. . .

Any input would be appreciated

Well, I'd start by asking if you or anyone in your family every worked in the mining industry. That thing look like a tool used to work on REALLY BIG equipment.

Any chance it has a makers stamp on it? Any stampings at all? Patent number? I haave no idea what the value of something like that would be, but the more info you can post, the closer you will get to finding out what it is and what its value may be. Good or bad.

Don't know about the wrench but I like what I'm seeing of that garage. Do you have any more pics of that space?

It's Jo-Line torque wrench. I've got it's brother sitting here right now. And yes it is rated at 1600 inch pounds. It is a click style mechanism

Not much value, I got mine for less than $15 on e-bay.

Good luck on selling it.

Okay I'm not with the wrench now, but I think the part number on it is 16003m , even with that I'm having trouble finding any info about it.

As far as the garage goes, it's funny you mention that, because I have been at it for a week and only have a week left, to clear out this place. Problem is, it's down to alot of really random things, and I have no clue how to go about getting rid of most of it.

grandpa was a mechanic, worked at GM for 50 years, this is only maybe 5% of what it was, but he had some tools yeah.

A 3/4 drive would shear off at 1600 lb/ft., and at even 4 ft long would be extremely difficult to reach max torque. Sounds like 600 lb/ft, much more common for 3/4 drive torque wrenches of that size.

Maybe a 1" drive.

Where are you located? I buy and sell tools and if you are close to Maryland, I'd certainly take a look at them. PM if you like.

OK, I'm 14 years late.

This wrench is what we at Jo-Line called a "1202." I no longer have the specs on these guys, but I am not at all surprised to here that yours goes up to 1600 foot pounds. I had heard that tools like these were used on ships keels and such as that.

There aren't a lot of these. I only saw a few manufactured.

You can see more about Jo-Line torque wrenches here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum...e-torque-wrenches.413693/page-5#post-10826055
