I figured I'd offer up some proof - receipt attached. Ignore my redneck redaction.
I called yesterday evening and they gave me a price of $1.51 per gallon and $9.95 delivery fee. im getting 800 gallons tomorrow!!!! thanks!

I had to fight for the price but it was worth it.

How often in a typical year do you have to fill your tank?
We are on a "keep full" service, so they are out 4-5 times a year, but the tank is usually between 20 and 60%, and they only fill it to about 85%. We've not yet been here two years, but it looks like we are using about 12-1400g a year.

You should have gotten a bigger tank. These guys with the 1000g tanks are the ones getting better deals. If I had one I'd have two 1000 gallon tanks installed then only fill up when prices are down.

As mentioned above, I have a 1000g tank (plus a rented 350g for the barn). My neighbor has two of them, which would be cool.

I don't think our per/G price is bad, given all that's going on. I am going to pre-buy next summer, as that seems to be the best way to hold down costs.

Rather insensitive and tone deaf reply, in my opinion.

I am in Joplin Mo as I write this, a cultural wasteland that you couldn’t pay me to live in, but it’s cheap.

Not everyone can uproot and abandon their friends and family.
What a hypocrite. You call him insensitive and tone deaf and have the audacity to immediately call Joplin a cultural wasteland???

Don’t understand sarcasm, I guess. The whole thing started by someone calling out a poster for living in, I think, New Jersey, basically calling him a ******* for doing so, and alluding to him having a lower intellect since he lives in a heavily populated area.

I wouldn’t live in Joplin but you’re free to.

I have lived in tiny towns, metro areas of 9.7 million people, an Europe. Currently live in a county of 35000 and a county of 1.2 million.

He didn't call him a *******????, he stated facts plain and simple and even stated that "Move to a lower cost of living state would solve that issue. Not sure if that's an option or not."

Your still disparaging Joplin with you inference and trying to pass it off as sarcasm?

That price sounds very good based on current prices. Be careful with propane contracts and read the fine print. Some of the contracts are worthless to the propane consumer. The contracts are written to favor the supplier.

Personally I only fill once per year due to having a 500 gallon tank for the house and a 120 gallon and two 100lb tanks for the shop. Hope to find a 500 gallon tank to purchase for the shop one day. Still, due to relatively low propane consumption I am able to only have to fill once per year so I get the best price possible for that year (usually). Currently I try to fill in June or July.

Way off course with all the finger pointing and division on this thread-If you elect to heat with propane in any area of the country, the prices will vary all over the board depending on the time of year purchased. If trying to get the cheapest prices over the long haul and $$$ is not to much of a indicator, best situation is to OCD and buy 2-3 1000 gal. Tanks installed and hooked up and fill all in the July-Aug. period when supply is high and demand lower. First winter heating season will advise you of a ball park figure of usage. Probably overkill, however most should agree you can pick and choose supplier and control outragous price gouging like happened here in Wisconsin several years ago, sky rocketed $7.00 +/gal in winter months, supposedly blamed on the farmers for drying wet corn crops. Politics played a huge price on this as Canada was paying $.55/Gal at the same time! Suppliers had to travel to the state of Neb. And Kansas to supply customers who could afford to pay to stay warm! No reprieve from the administration that got voted out by the farmers next go-around!

Clayton NY - paid $2.7490 gal for propane 2 days ago - that's with 0.15 gal discount for check within 10 days of deliver. Just their 100 gal tank and now just a fireplace.

Got a 43 gal top up this week on the tank that supplies our standby generator. Worked out to $1.87 USD/Gal for the propane, but add on all the taxes and the total was $2.31 USD/Gal.

We get a seniors AND a veterans discount on ours, and it's $3.59 2 weeks ago... I checked other suppliers, and it's over 5 bucks. A gallon, Ouch!

Something we've had to watch out for - if we pay for propane before delivery, the driver will show up, "deliver" propane, and the gauge on the tank he filled barely moves. I called the company and they said "There's an issue with your tank gauge"... But the next delivery (with me standing there) the problem didn't repeat... until we prepaid again, and sure enough, it happened again.

I started taking before photos of the tank gauges (we have more than one tank), meet the driver as he drives up, take a picture of the gauge on his truck tank and the dispenser zeroed out, physically watch him deliver the propane into the tank, and take an after picture of his truck tank. Oh, and I don't pay until he's delivered. All pf the sudden, none of these "issues" happened again.

Yesterday, propane was $1.15/liter.
A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in Canada . Well, there's a very simple answer, Nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low. The reason for this is purely geographical. Our Oil is located in: ALBERTA , SASKATCHEWAN, BRITISH COLUMBIA, MANITOBA, COASTAL NEW BRUNSWICK, COASTAL NEWFOUNDLAND Our DIPSTICKS are located in OTTAWA

Yeah we have actually had a drop from $2.59 to $2.49. I suspect it has to do with the fact it has been an unusually warm winter so far.

What is your delivery fee? It’s always part of your total cost. My propane company doesn’t have a delivery fee but will charge more for a delivery of less than 200 gallons.

My natural gas for this month is $2.26 per therm.

Is it correct to say that one therm is 100,000 BTU’s and it takes about 1.1 gallons of propane to provide that much heat?

If so, I suppose theoretically I would save money by burning propane if I could buy it for $2.05 per gallon.

$9.95 so adding that in to the price it would come out to about 1.53 per gallon

It would take some time to recoup the money of converting to propane, adding a tank, ect. that can get expensive.

I live in a city on a quarter acre lot. Nobody around here runs on propane for those reasons.
I have a Weber propane grill and a propane torpedo heater I use on rare occasions when I need my unheated garage to be warm. Here in the Bay Area, my uninsulated, unheated garage gets down as low as 53 degrees on the coldest days.

So been noticing propane prices skyrocketing this year. Two years ago I paid $1.19 per gallon delivered. Earlier this year in July, I paid $1.69 per gallon delivered. Prices are currently $2.49 per gallon. Been rising close to $ .10 per gallon per week over the past month. For those who have to purchase propane this winter, it's going to be painful.

Sounds like natural gas is going to be up in price this winter too.

Still worth it to have dry, clean heat.
