That's ridiculous! I'm just an hour south of you, just got 400 gallons Monday at $1.99. I own my own tank and was a first time customer. Heller's Gas.

I had to fight for the price but it was worth it.
We just paid $2.10 to top off our 1000g tank. This time last year it was $1.59.

We are on a "keep full" service, so they are out 4-5 times a year, but the tank is usually between 20 and 60%, and they only fill it to about 85%. We've not yet been here two years, but it looks like we are using about 12-1400g a year. How often in a typical year do you have to fill your tank?
You should have gotten a bigger tank. These guys with the 1000g tanks are the ones getting better deals. If I had one I'd have two 1000 gallon tanks installed then only fill up when prices are down.We are on a "keep full" service, so they are out 4-5 times a year, but the tank is usually between 20 and 60%, and they only fill it to about 85%. As mentioned above, I have a 1000g tank (plus a rented 350g for the barn). My neighbor has two of them, which would be cool. You should have gotten a bigger tank. There's politics, and then there's facts, and then there's those who's politics get embarrassed by facts. How about keeping the politics out of this thread? It’s about propane prices (and natural gas prices) not your personal politics.
What a hypocrite. You call him insensitive and tone deaf and have the audacity to immediately call Joplin a cultural wasteland???Rather insensitive and tone deaf reply, in my opinion.
I am in Joplin Mo as I write this, a cultural wasteland that you couldn’t pay me to live in, but it’s cheap.
Not everyone can uproot and abandon their friends and family.
Don’t understand sarcasm, I guess. The whole thing started by someone calling out a poster for living in, I think, New Jersey, basically calling him a ******* for doing so, and alluding to him having a lower intellect since he lives in a heavily populated area. What a hypocrite. He didn't call him a *******????, he stated facts plain and simple and even stated that "Move to a lower cost of living state would solve that issue. Not sure if that's an option or not."Don’t understand sarcasm, I guess. I wouldn’t live in Joplin but you’re free to.
I have lived in tiny towns, metro areas of 9.7 million people, an Europe. Currently live in a county of 35000 and a county of 1.2 million.

I don't think our per/G price is bad, given all that's going on. I am going to pre-buy next summer, as that seems to be the best way to hold down costs.

Clayton NY - paid $2.7490 gal for propane 2 days ago - that's with 0.15 gal discount for check within 10 days of deliver. Just their 100 gal tank and now just a fireplace.I'm in upstate NY, near lake Ontario and got a propane delivery today and it was $3.699 a gal. and that's heating cost. Its more per gal. if its for cooking, water heating, etc.
$9.95 so adding that in to the price it would come out to about 1.53 per gallonWhat is your delivery fee? It’s always part of your total cost. My propane company doesn’t have a delivery fee but will charge more for a delivery of less than 200 gallons.
It would take some time to recoup the money of converting to propane, adding a tank, ect. that can get expensive. My natural gas for this month is $2.26 per therm.
Is it correct to say that one therm is 100,000 BTU’s and it takes about 1.1 gallons of propane to provide that much heat?
If so, I suppose theoretically I would save money by burning propane if I could buy it for $2.05 per gallon.
I live in a city on a quarter acre lot. Nobody around here runs on propane for those reasons. It would take some time to recoup the money of converting to propane, adding a tank, ect. that can get expensive.

What state are you in toyotadriver? So been noticing propane prices skyrocketing this year. Two years ago I paid $1.19 per gallon delivered. Earlier this year in July, I paid $1.69 per gallon delivered. Prices are currently $2.49 per gallon. Been rising close to $ .10 per gallon per week over the past month. For those who have to purchase propane this winter, it's going to be painful.
Sounds like natural gas is going to be up in price this winter too.
Still worth it to have dry, clean heat.
