Sorry, Pharmtek -- and thanks fhsfiremanco1. I do post a lot of pictures of the garage. It's hard to balance things for both the guys who have been on the forum for awhile and also the guys who have only recently signed up. It's safe to say I end up posting too many.

But while reading this thread I did a little math in my head and realized that I now have ten different work surfaces in a two-car garage. )Somebody call Guinness.)

So I thought I'd put pictures of them all together.

And at the risk of being even more irritating -- with two more pictures -- it does surprise me how much my garage has changed since I joined this forum (thinking, at the time, that I had done a great job on my garage and that it was finished). The board and my own OCD made sure that wasn't the case.

I have no idea if this picture thing will work. I was working on this a bit today. The wheels in back pivot down to with a srew ******** of one of those crappy scissor jacks that everyone has in the trunk. The front wheels pivot down when you pull the handle down. The top is .25 inch plate. The entire thing is .25 x 30 inch angle iron. Im adding another reciever tube just like the one on the vise is on, on the other side. I hope the picture will get bigger...

Not my workbenches but some of the ones that I have been working on lately. Basically I planed them down to get rid of beating and drill holes. Routed out a symbol or cartoon.

Ya gotta start somewhere dude. I always buy a new tool for each project. Tell the wife ya gotta have it to make the project easy to do. Next thing you know ya tell the wife your tools need protection. It just snowballs from there.

We've owned 4 Cases on the farm (5 if you count my brothers). I think they were 430, 930, 970, 1070, and 1175. They were dependable and not near as expensive as a John Deere but man were they a pain to shift.

Hopefully, this works. Here's ours soon after we built it and started filling it up. I got the pallet racks from a friend who was redoing his garage at Motorsport Ranch Houston. It also came with a tire rack that he had mounted on casters. What a deal!



The total workspace is 18 feet and 42" deep. Kind of deep, but not too bad to work with. There's also nice storage space above. I've since added some T-5 lights under the top for task lighting.

Nope...its an 830 waiting for some new heads. We have a 930 that has been running yearly for almost 30 years; they are so cheap to run compared to the 4430 and 4320. And yah...they could be a little easier to shift.

Hey breeze, I really like that one in the first two pics. What model/brand of chop saw is that and how do you like it? Are those casters welded to the bottom of the table legs?

Next to it is a 1/8" thick welding table.

Both of them fold up and out of the way when they're not in use.

I have been thinking of making a fold up table like yours using that excess 4'x6' plate I offered you. Frankly, it's pretty heavy so I'd use part of it for the backsplash but then not sure how I'd organize my clamps, etc on the wall as you did? I'm thinking the Harbor Freight cheapo magnetic strips in 2 or 3 stripes across the back. Any chance of you posting a closeup or two of how your clamps are secured?

Hey Jeff. The chop saw I bought at a garage sale. I believe it's a 14" Chicago brand. I Didn't have one, and for 30 bucks I figured it would be better than trying to always cut metal with the recip.saw or hack saw. I used it a couple of times and the brushes went to ****. But then again, probably why the guy was selling it. It worked pretty decent while it ran.

The bench weighs alot, and I seemed to be moving it to different areas of the garage, so I decided to weld some casters on it. I also can bolt it to one of the garage posts if I ever have the need for it to be stationary like if I'm wailing on something in the vice. 2 castors are swivel and the other two are fixed.

used all those things myself at one time..........also a tail gate on a pickup is a great bench its also good for sitting your *** on on a nice day and eating lunch........lol

The 1/8" sheet is edged all around with 2" angle stock, which is 1/4" thick and keeps it from flexing. You can see how it's made in this picture of the ceiling bench, which is what the fold-down table was made from.

The Stay-Put hooks for the clamps are screwed right into the plywood. The aluminum flashing is on top of the plywood. I just drilled a hole for the pin that would normally go into the pegboard and another one 1" down for the set screw that the Stay-Put hook uses. I don't have a good picture, but here are two enlargements of old ones.

Honestly, I really don't sit there to watch TV. That monitor shows me a birds-eye view of the garage via HD Camera when I am driving in so I can position the car on the lift properly. When I have a movie or TV show on...I am usually somewhere else in the garage.

Yes, that pic works. Some ideas for me to draw from there when I build mine. Doesn't need to be anything fancy, just enough to raise it a 1/2 while I move it occasionally. I can buy small heavy castor wheels for a few bucks over here, so a little leverage and a central scissor jack would work for me.

I have the same air compressor. When running, it isn't real loud, but you gotta turn the radio up pretty good to hear it over the compressor. As for fill up time, just running with no load, 0-210 psig in about 6 minutes. Puts out 5.4 cfm, so for most standard air tools that are intermittent use like an impact wrench or air ratchet, it rarely cycles. For a continuous use tool like an angle grinder, it will pretty much run the entire time, but it does keep up.

you wont regret it. The bench is solid as a rock...the thing ways a ton and with the wheels down its a cinch to move. The whole thing only lifts up about an inch. You can push, pull or beat anything on the vise and it doesnt move...i havent got another picture of it but just to the left of the vise on the other leg there is a sliding bracket that holds the chop saw. ill post more pictures when I get it painted.

An old timer once told me "a clean shop means you have no work" and he was right because thats pretty much the only time the place gets clean. I hate a cluttered shop but what can you do thats the nature of the beast

I just don't have enough bench space (or basement space)...one bench has a vise, key machine, and bench grinder with some workspace, the other one has my laptop, computer monitor, phones, and space to work on my customers computers.
