Any Parker vise experts (or non-experts) know this?

I'm trying to figure out what year(s) Parker used letters instead of numbers for Model numbers on their vises.

They use C. Parker Co. (not Chas. Parker) and do not have "semi steel" written on them. The No. C and No. E are fixed base vises.

I'm looking at this craigslist ad for a No. E and it looks a bit like a 3x model from about 1903?

And here's a short thread about a No. C vise http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201257

Thanks

During past month I just finished looking at and reading most of the 500+ vise pages and i kinda remember a hardware page showing some lettered parkers. good luck.

Not a Parker expert - but it looks like a very early model (pre number era). Parker's numbers went up high until they were bought out by Union Mfg. I can't give you a date for sure, nor can I be 100% sure it wasn't something they did between their numbers, but it certainly isn't a late model and I'd bet 1920's at the earliest - probably older. A great buy for the price - don't hesitate to pick it up!

Ahh, so it is there...somewhere.

OK found it. The vise thread, page 90, post 1795 has page 235 from the 1902 Geo. Worthington Co. catalog.

So 1902.

Doesn't look like it has the classic parker jaw shape on the Vulcan line....forerunner of the trojan line or parallel?
