I am looking at a new garage door for my house. What is on there now is a builder-grade, paper-back Wayne Dalton. I am having trouble with the Wayne Dalton spring set up as well as the paper back starting to peel and look awful. I am thinking that a new door is probably the way I need to go.
I just put up a used Clopay (insulated and metal-backed) on my shop build. I had him quote one to match it as well as one he recommended. I hope you can help me make an informed decision.
My garage needs a 16'X7' door. I insisted on having an insulated door and metal-backed.
Wayne Dalton 16'x7' 8300 model - $1150 installed
Clopay 16'x7' 9200 model - $1380 installed
I am leaning towards the Clopay since I already have one in my shop and the R rating is higher. Also the fact I could use the Green Hinges if needed at a future date. Also if I ever break a hinge or something there are parts available pretty much anywhere but the Wayne Dalton stuff isn't.
Are there any other brands I need to investigate and have him quote?
