I've had a PST for probably 15yrs. I don't use it everyday, I actually am not sure where it is at this moment. Somewhere in the house.

I have a deskjob, so I carry an iPhone 3gs on my belt.

I carry a Wave every day in one of the leather holsters that can store the knife folded or open. I really love it.

I did break one after 2 years of use. I was prying two pieces of steel with the pliers and it snapped right along where the logo is embossed on them above the rivet. I mailed it off and had my replacement in 9 days. Note that I live in New Hampshire and mailed it to Oregon, and they had a brand new one shipped back to me from 2500 miles away in 9 days using standard mail services. It was great!

Even if I break a few more I will probably stick with them for the warranty, it truly is worry free.

SOG fan here. I've had the same PowerPlier on my hip for the last 13 years. It has survived multiple trips to the sandbox. I'm about to retire it for sentimental reasons more than anything else.

For the five years before that, I went thru (read severely abused) several Leathermen's and Gerber's in various motorpools from Ft Bragg to Ft Campbell. None of them seemed to last more than 6 months. Maybe they've greatly improved since the turn of the century, but I don't intend to find out. YMMV.

I wasn't sure what a Leatherman was, so I Googled it, but I accidentally spelled it "leathermen", and those images will be hard to erase from my brain . . .

Skeletool. Have used the warranty on the skeletool with no problem, no questions. Great company!

Am I the only one who has a Crunch? I really like locking vise grips instead of the pliers.

I have a Crunch, two original Leathermen and a Gerber.

I find the Crunch too slow to open and use. Looks like a great tool for a motorcyclest though, lightest visegrip ever.

Yeah Harvey, that does pose a problem! But with my Otterbox case, I could probably drive a small nail to hang a picture! LOL

Resusitating this thread - anyone have experience with replacing Supertools under warranty?

Just rang NZ firm for warranty work on these - apparently since the 100 is no longer made, they take it (presumably scrap it) and replace with a refurbished 200.

Anyone care to pass comment on the 200 and 300 Supertools vs the 100? Which is the better between the 200 and 300 models? Apparently the finish on the 300 isn't so flash?

It's been a long time since I've even looked around for one, and no one I know has one.

I carry a Juice S2 with the bit kit in my EDC. I have a SuperTool 300 in the car, and I have a Charge TTi with bit kit at the house.

I've thought about the rebar just for its replaceable cutters, but it's pretty much just a smaller ST300. When they put the replaceable cutters in something like the Charge, I'll get one of those two. I like having an assortment of tools on me at all times

I have the original Leatherman tool. Quite frankly, I'm amazed I haven't lost it. I don't carry it around much though. It stays in the truck mostly now. But it has been used a good bit. I think the wave would be easier on the hand though.

Reviving an old thread here. I had a leatherman, forget which model I used daily at work from '05 until I lost it in '09. I replaced it with a Kick, I've been using that ever since. I happened to bend the knife blade on it, so I sent it in for warranty. Great customer service, Leatherman sent me a refurbished Wingman since they no longer make the Kick. Very nice multi-tool.

Used to have the original then downsized to the skeletool...until the company eliminated all "knives" from the work place in the name of safety. I don't really give a **** but have gotten tired of opening boxes with butter knives from the break room (figured some day they'd see me do it and get it but it hasn't happened yet).

Not a Leatherman, but I still use the Kershaw A100 multitool. Got it from my Snappy driver maybe 12ish years ago...? Paid what i thought was too damn much for it (about $40, I think), but at the time, it was the only multitool in the world with vise-grip style pliers. Still comes in handy because they grip STRONG.

Good luck getting one now. I guess it's the only plier-based multitool Kershaw made and collectors are all over them. I've seen them hit $200 on ebay. Crazy people.

Original leatherman tool here. I bought it in 1992 still carry it every day. I broke the tip off one side of the pliers and ground them shorter. I could have sent it in for repair but the things have been with me to long to part with.

It is getting pretty loose but still works ok. I like being able to flip it open one handed and it would take quite a while to break a new one in. It is one of my favorite tools.

Sog Paratool-probably had 15 years. Awesome and does not cut in your hands.

Nothing wrong with a SOG, I've always like that design.

However, it cannot touch a modern leatherman for use and convenience. I constantly run into people who still gripe about the sharp edges of a leatherman, even though this issue has been solved for more than a decade on the Wave, Charge, etc. And the external blades, locking mechanisms, etc are simply fantastic.

The gerber single hand slide lock thing is cool, but the tool is sloppy and will hurt you. Plus it's blades and other features are inferier to leathermans.

I have a Charge, Skeletool, PST II, and some other small ones.

I have a collection (20 or so) Leatherman, SOG, Victorinox, Crescent, and other USA and Swiss made multitools.

I usually carry a Leatherman Rebar, Victorinox Spirit, modified Paladin/SOG PT-510 hybrid, or Crescent ToolZall. The 4 inch long multitools are about as heavy as I want to belt carry, so my larger multitools stay home.

I just got a new surge a few months ago to replace my old surge while it went in to have a few things fixed. The new one is the black oxide.

Just got the updated Surge with the new plier head. Great improvement over the Wave I was using.

The larger size of the Surge and the replaceable cutter teeth are reasons to upgrade. Particularly if you have to deal with severe applications.

As a collector, I have just about every models made. I have been carrying the REBAR lately. I love the replaceable hard wire cutters.
