Which Racedeck to use?

Hi guys, I've been using the garagejournal for my source of ideas to plan and build my new garage and workshop for the last year here in England. I'm now getting to the good bits like deciding on a floor finish.
I had always wanted a polished concrete floor but I've decided I would like to use Racedeck tiles instead but I'm not sure which ones to go for.
I love the free flow tiles, they look awesome but are they comfortable to work on?
My garage is for working on my Caterham race car so it won't have a dirty or wet car parked in each night so the actual free flow is probably not so important for me. It looks like it could be a bit uncomfortable to work on your hands and knees around the car? Do small parts get stuck in the grove?
I was thinking I would be better off with the diamond XL tiles instead as they give a smoother finish, I ordered 2 sample tiles of the diamond tiles but I'm now thinking I should order a couple of free flow samples.

Any opinions and comments would be good to know before I make a desicion on what to order.
Thanks
Luke

My Free Flow floor is 3+ years old and I have zero regrets. I do some work in there on my classic Mustang. Yes, little parts may fall through the slots but a magnet or needle nosed pliers do the trick. My Mustang stays on one side of the 500 sq. ft. garage and her DD is parked on the other half. The ice, snow, rain, salt, grit and whatever else she drags in self-flushes for the most part. By parking the Mustang in the center of the garage I can wash and detail it in the shade. No water spots and I can take my time. The wash water drains under the tiles and right to the overhead door.
At my age there is no flooring comfortable to kneel on but a small pad solves that issue.
After seeing mine my best friend used Race Deck in his garage but used the coin top solid tiles. Looks nice but I prefer the look of my Free Flow. No puddling or pooling of water and easily maintained. Good luck. Race Deck has a sale on Black Friday Nov. 25th. Dave R.

If you use a creeper but the diamond or circle down... at least in that area. Also it’s a really good idea to deal the concrete first

I think their usual is to announce it Thursday but I'm not 100% on that. I don't remember the amount of discount. I bought mine in May of 2014 and by mentioning that I was a Garage Journal member I got the Garage Journal discount. Again I'm not 100% but I don't think the discount is only on oddball stuff. Let us know what you did. Hope it works out for you. CJDave.

mygarageone, I found a email from Race Deck that I thought I had deleted. Apparently you have to call on Friday to get the sale price. CJDave.

I do mostly woodworking so I have the diamond tiles. I think that depending on what you do in the garage will affect which tiles would be the better choice.

I have FreeFlow and love it. I just actually purchased some graphite fill to replace alloy for a little darker color that stays "clean" (when it's actually dirty).

Casters have no problem over it, no problem walking on it barefoot.

My concrete underneath is stained badly, so when I put my new tiles in, I'm going to do a double layer of synthetic landscape fabric underneath to make a clean, uniform "base" for it to sit on.

So alloy always looks a little dirty? My design has the basic "field" in alloy but if it always looks dirty I may have to rethink this.

In a real working shop, where you are doing suspension rebuilds, brake work, transmissions, etc...then yes it will be dirty.

If you are talking basic oil changes, auto detailing, car parking...you will be just fine.

I did a complete ground-up build on my car, and the alloy paid the price.

I highly recommend the Diamond or Coin topped tiles if you work on your cars. Kneeling on the Free-Flow tile is hard on the knees. It's a night and day difference in how it feels. It's not good for propping yourself up on an elbow if under the car either.

I was looking at ordering sometime before end of year maybe calling on Friday would be a wise choice. Glad I stumbled onto this site in my research. Looking at doing 1100 sq ft with free flow

Great info. I was hoping to purchase the free flow tile for my 4-car Garage before end of year. Already quoted 2.89 sq ft maybe Friday would be a good time to call and see if I can save some $$$

Thanks for all the comments, I've just ordered 300 of the diamond XL tiles, unfortunately they are not doing any Black Friday deals here in the UK, I will post a picture up once it's all in!
Thanks again
