It’s been a while since I updated this thread. Things are moving forward. Siding is on and painted. Batten still have to go on. Trim is getting done this week. Hopefully they will install the windows and man doors. Garage doors are due mid December.

Very nice! Hope you can move up there and put it to use before you get too old. I wanted a barn twice the size of the house as well but my wife wanted a house four times the size of the barn.

The shop is almost done. The builder is waiting for a less windy day for the metal roof. It also coincides with turkey day so I don’t expect anymore progress until after the holiday. I had the Electric company out to look at my hookup. They told me and my neighbo, who is also an electrician what we needed. We were able to install the meter socket and weather head. They said 6 to8 weeks for the actual hookup. Not bad since it gives me time to gather up the rest of the electrical supplies. I painted the conduit red to match, but once it was up the paint wasn’t as close as I thought.

Things slowed down in December but now the metal roof is on. Still waiting for garage doors and 2 windows. It took me a couple days to get the vapor barrier on by myself and about a 1000 trips up and down the ladder. Metal ceiling is ordered and should be here within a couple weeks.

Where fro and what did you go with for a metal ceiling? I am torn between doing metal or drywall with plaster for mine right now.

Worked all day yesterday hanging the metal ceiling. Only did one row so far. 20’ sheets with 3 of us. The metal pick made it easier.
next garage will have 7’ ceilings.

If you dont mind sharing, what was the cost per sheet on the metal? I just got a quote for 5k to drywall and plaster the ceiling in the barn and loft and it might be a bit out of my price range. I might have them requote with just taping the seams and joint compound instead of plastering the entire ceiling.

39 panels (36”x20’) $5.25/ft plus J channel at $14/ea. Total $4405.00. Free delivery. Ended up finding a cheaper place in Bow, NH but had already placed order with La Valley.

We got a little more done this weekend. Stagings with wheels are the way to go. I picked up a propane construction heater to help with the cold temps. -8 outside but a balmy 9 inside. The heater brought it up to 32.
We rigged up a temporary light. Hopefully next weekend we will finish up the ceiling then start running some wires.

The metal ceiling is finally done. It took way longer than I anticipated. I think it looks fantastic. The lights are just temporary. Now I can get on the schedule for the insulation company to blow in loose fill above the ceiling.
Next is electrical and plywood for the old bat cave.

March update: I have most of the wiring ran for the shop section. My lights came in Saturday so hopefully will get them mounted this weekend. Then probably another week or so to get those hooked up.
Garage door contractor finally finished my doors. The openers were on back order.
They finally installed the last 2 windows. Of course they don’t match again. This is the 3rd set of windows that came in wrong. Waiting on an answer from the window company.
Had a contractor come in and blow loose cellulose in the loft floor. I can then start laying plywood for the floor. Then more wiring. The Old Bat Cave is coming together.

Finished off my light install yesterday.
I went with 10 of these from Primelights

First time running EMT and happy with the look and plenty of light.

I haven’t posted in a while. I finally coated the floor with Ghost Shield 4500 Densifier and 8510 sealer. Easy to apply and beads water like no ones business.
Wife and I laid some plywood in her Old Bat Cave. What a pain in the *** (plywood not the wife). The Home Cheapo wood was nice and flat in the store but as soon as we stacked it in the garage it bowed like crazy. The two of us struggled with each one.
I needed to get my beam up for the future mezzanine since the lift is coming this Friday. That was dicey since my mini excavator couldn’t lift it high enough. We had to do one end at a time.
Can’t wait.

Looks great man, I need to get back on updating my thread too, been too busy trying to finish it out!

How long did it take for your lift to come in? I am thinking of going with a Forward as well, just need to call the guy down here in Mass and get some pricing.

Good luck with it man, it looks awesome!

Juice, the lift was in stock. I could have had it installed the same week but I needed time to prep my mezzanine. I went with Gay Bloom in Canton. Installers were great to work with.

Good to hear! Gary did all the lifts at my companies shop in Smithfield, RI and a few in my buddy's repair shop. Guess I need to reach out to him soon!
