I REALLY want to properly redo my KR637/657 in white with a color anodized trim. Does anyone have suggestions as to a good paint or powder coat that holds up and will not yellow over time? Anyone have a box redone in white?

Below are a few pics I saved for inspiration.

I think a white tool box is great for a guy with a white belt and shoes.

Says the guy with a white car in his profile pic. :lol_hitti

I was never a big fan of white toolboxes, but I got this one so cheap I couldn't say no. First Kobalt box I've ever had as well, and I've found the quality to be better than the newer Craftsman boxes Lowes has replaced them with.

Here are some of my white cabinets. All of the stickers are on magnetic sheet, so I can remove them when I want to.

That’s an awesome idea. If you don’t mind sharing, where’s the best source for the magnetic sheet?

My wife hated the white kitchen when we bought the house..so I saved them and incorporated them into my woodshop. If the HF 44" was available in white, I'd have to get one and its the only red in there. I also ordered the Grizzly in Polar white where I could.

Auto paint to make it last and avoid yellow etc. I like white. I pick up, I sweep up, I fuss over throwing trash away and in my place it happens fast. I am not a machine tool type, not that I cant but I really don't need it, I can get by and its another layer of stuff but what I do is have shelves and at first glance it looks like I got a lot of tools but its all simple and enough stock to solve my problems, so much less is really job shop built and I rely on tools with available parts, I got Buds if I need it, free labor even and there are a couple shops with really big stuff and I farmed out 1 400$ job 25 years ago.
Torch, welder, grinders, battery drills. The most rest looks like automotive stuff including hoist.
I like white boxes, I like white cabinets too, having all white really wouldn't bother me if I was a little less dirty, its something a guy needs to be super fussy about wiping fast and continuous, using protectors on all of it.
People that been in a few garages have seen it all, garbage, layers of grease, old parts and they think mine is neat, I get comments, not on how **** and span it is but that its organized, picked up and ready to work. I traded a little tire work this week for some maid service, we will see how it goes but someone to wipe up the white. Not that we cant but there is several people use it and its the kind of thing one leads to another and it doesn't get done on a regular schedule and soon it looks really dingy.
In my case people get over it real fast after they realize I can find a part. My office is white. It needs to be fixed, nothing big just routine. The colors in the rest of it if its equipment is the color its sposed to be, the way it was when new most of the time. Some is generic and some a variety which breaks it up and distracts from some dust.
Sometimes when I got something for major service include some paint at some point, it all doesn't have to be flawless, got a couple pieces I could spruce up but they not terrible and look ok worked. I aint above scuffing and spraying something with a rattle can. White is good, especially pure white and a good close match is appliance paint.
I even repaint Ford trucks to it from that irory **** they use. If a guy really knows he knows its not the right color but its not so distinct as John Deere green which I only paint on John Deere equipment, its so distinct. Fire engine red is red and is almost as good as white.

This suggestion is a little late, but still useful.

When the new phone books come (if they come out any more?), I keep the magnetic "plumber ads" that are on the front. One year at work they had a recycle bin for just phone books and I salvaged tons of these. Reuse and free is better then recycle...

Since they cut so easily, they also work well for labeling metal cabinets/drawers.

Someone posted some Hayley cabinets from SEMA to the Obsessed Garage Facebook page, and had some really awesome ones in white.
I just installed the Hayley Cabinets today, I did the same setup essentially from those pictures I took at SEMA

Stole this not literally. got both for less than what bottom box normal costs. Walked in after Xmas and asked if I could buy the floor model cheap. Tool manager said sure and how much would I like to pay.

Been looking for more white cabinets for under the workbench

I like that very much. It seems like the options for white are really limited.

Love it! Good look with the grey walls for contrast and nice floor/lighting too.

The Box in the first post is a Quentor unit from UK made from glassfiber and aluminium but they have been replaced with Lista units later.

White boxes are

It’s been a while but finally getting around to sharing pics.

Ended up selling my 44” HF gen 1 us general box and replacing them with two husky white boxes. I also added a white HF tool cart with of of my normal maintenance and tune up tools tools for the 912. The boxes got debadged and debating on keeping blank or not. For the tool cart I want to put a porsche script decal in black where the us general was on the inside of the lid.

My dads red tool chest remains and sticks out, but it’s not going anywhere for sentimental reasons. Plus it’s pretty rad with the stickers and patina.

The cream cabinets will get repainted white this summer to match everything.

I also happened to but my 912 (Fritz as he’s know) a brother. White is not my taste in car colors but it was the right car (73k miles, detailed records since 2000, original and excellent shape).

What model Lista is that?
Sorry, I just noticed this question! That is an MW1225 with a mobile base and side handle. The drawer layout/sizes were custom ordered to fit my needs - 12 drawers total. 47" wide, 28-1/2 deep and just over 60" high (including the casters).

I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Donno if you guys know, but the new "coming soon" Series 3 of the Harbor Freight US General boxes will be all available in white (FINALLY!). All rollers, top boxes, side lockers and even new hutches will be out in white in the coming few months. Rumor has it that they will be available in black, titanium or polished aluminum drawer pulls, too. I have been waiting for these to materialize for years, so I will be selling my green 44" and blue 26" to get 2 44s in white. Can't wait.

Surprisingly my white HF box has stayed cleaner than I thought it would?
Always had red or black boxes before mainly because that's about all they use to make!

Interesting idea. Not for me, though. Maybe if you have a shop you run like a laboratory or operating room. Or if you spend more time cleaning up than working on stuff. I wipe down tools and put them away. I wipe down the toolbox when needed. Still, white? I don't think that would work out for me.

I love it when guys on GJ take shots at people who work clean.

"Oh, you're a tool polisher. You're not a REAL laborer. I make MONEY with my tools and don't waste time cleaning or organizing. Pffft."

As this thread proves out, plenty of shops and workspaces are perfectly fine for white cabinets or tool chests. There are LOTS of people who aren't working in a steam train repair shop covered in grease and dirt. Bike shops, hobby shops, gamers, race trailers, home garages, kitchens, race shops, woodworkers, machine shops, engine builders, aircraft mechanics and just places that don't tolerate slobs and messy workspaces could definitely and do use white. I've been in aerospace machine shops that you could eat off of any workbench in the shop, regardless of color. Judging by the thousands of spotless SnapOn chests flaunted here in EVERY color, most guys take care of their gear and workspaces. White is no different than green, yellow or red, unless of course if you're a slob.

I painted a steel work table white. I felt that it would be easier to work on and see small parts. It has primarily been used for transmission work. It had scars and scratches, but I feel that it was a good choice. I used an epoxy appliance spray paint, which I recommend anyone considering painting a tool box white consider. It seems pretty durable. I’m pretty good at not getting a box too dirty. When I take tools out for a job, I don’t put them back until the job is finished. That way it minimizes grease on the box. I don’t work for a living anymore, either. But I like the idea of white storage. Not enough to change over, but if I upgraded, I would consider white.
