Auto paint to make it last and avoid yellow etc. I like white. I pick up, I sweep up, I fuss over throwing trash away and in my place it happens fast. I am not a machine tool type, not that I cant but I really don't need it, I can get by and its another layer of stuff but what I do is have shelves and at first glance it looks like I got a lot of tools but its all simple and enough stock to solve my problems, so much less is really job shop built and I rely on tools with available parts, I got Buds if I need it, free labor even and there are a couple shops with really big stuff and I farmed out 1 400$ job 25 years ago.
Torch, welder, grinders, battery drills. The most rest looks like automotive stuff including hoist.
I like white boxes, I like white cabinets too, having all white really wouldn't bother me if I was a little less dirty, its something a guy needs to be super fussy about wiping fast and continuous, using protectors on all of it.
People that been in a few garages have seen it all, garbage, layers of grease, old parts and they think mine is neat, I get comments, not on how **** and span it is but that its organized, picked up and ready to work. I traded a little tire work this week for some maid service, we will see how it goes but someone to wipe up the white. Not that we cant but there is several people use it and its the kind of thing one leads to another and it doesn't get done on a regular schedule and soon it looks really dingy.
In my case people get over it real fast after they realize I can find a part. My office is white. It needs to be fixed, nothing big just routine. The colors in the rest of it if its equipment is the color its sposed to be, the way it was when new most of the time. Some is generic and some a variety which breaks it up and distracts from some dust.
Sometimes when I got something for major service include some paint at some point, it all doesn't have to be flawless, got a couple pieces I could spruce up but they not terrible and look ok worked. I aint above scuffing and spraying something with a rattle can. White is good, especially pure white and a good close match is appliance paint.
I even repaint Ford trucks to it from that irory **** they use. If a guy really knows he knows its not the right color but its not so distinct as John Deere green which I only paint on John Deere equipment, its so distinct. Fire engine red is red and is almost as good as white.
