I carry a gerber legend instead, as it has replaceable tungstan carbide cutting blades. It is useful if you have to cut allot of cables and wires both copper and steel.

damn, am i the only one that carries a surge?

i haven't been without it on my belt since i bought it in 2008. i like the beefier scissors, i like the bit changer, i like the changeable saw blade/file. i like that the knife blades and scissors open without having to open the whole thing up.

i don't get why everyone says its too big. i don't even know its there until i need it. i don't hit it on anything. it doesn't weigh my pants down. even when i first bought it i never had a problem with the heft. i'm not a big guy by any stretch of the imagination.

The larger size multitools are good for cutting consertina wire. That was what I used mine for allot in the army. The added size give better leverage to cut the steel.
