Still have my first real box. Got it from my Mom in about 82. It was the first line that Craftsman introduced as their home line. Top is a 6 drawer red. Bottom is 5 or 6 drawer in red. Wouldn't get rid of them for anything.

Got a Craftsman bottom for Christmas in 1968, and the top for a birthday in 1969. Before and after, my brother, sister and parents always new what to get me as a gift. Usually was good quality stuff, still have and use most all of it today.

My first tool box was a Kennedy 526 11 drawer when I started as a machinist apprentice early in 1967.

My first home tool box was a Craftsman 10 drawer chest that I got a killer deal on from Sears at Christmas 1968. Picked up the roller cabinet the next year.


My first Snap On box was KR 637 that I got new in 1989 from my dealer in exchange for a few hours of electrical work at his house. Still kicking myself in the *** for not getting the matching KR657 roll cab.

As others have said before, each one means a lot to me and I will never trade or sell any of them.

My first tool box is long gone, though it was nothing special. Just a plastic carry box. It was stolen off the top of my car when I went inside to make a phone call. There were some tools in it my Dad bought me, but it just some Craftsman screwdrivers.

I still have my first tool box I used as a "professional", and it's just a True Value plastic special. It was so loaded up with tools the plastic handle broke off. I'd love to get a new handle, but even the lid was tearing from all the weight. It stores my overstock tools on a shelf.

My first "drawer" toolbox I still have too, purchased by me. I still go back and forth about selling it, as it serves no real purpose anymore. Had it listed on Craigslist for awhile, then pulled it.

I've never intentionally gotten rid of a toolbox, but I think I'm about to. Just how many carry boxes does one guy need?

My first box was a Craftsman Rally box like the small one on the left.
It's in the que for restoration this spring.
My parents gave it to me for 1971 a few months after I had started my first electronics job and had started collecting small hand tools.

I hope I can still find the walnut wood grained contact paper to recover the drawer fronts.

Crown top carry box I bought when I was 16 at a garage sale. Sanded and reprinted grey and with a paint pen put J. Becker on the top. Still use it sometimes. It's well used now has a dent in the top. It went everywhere with me for the longest time. Served we'll through 3 or4 farm hand jobs , in a machine shop for a summer, and made a little side money through college with it.

Nope. Very first CM Rally Box from when I was 15 rotted away from getting wet in the shop at work (everything gets wet as I work on water oriented equipment). All the bigger SO work boxes always got traded in towards the next one.

A wooden box, my Dad built outa 1x8s for me for Christmas in the very early '60s,...

Dad was a Carpenter, Cabinetmaker, so it had wood workin' tools in it that mornin',...

It's a box fulla Memories in the other room now,...

I still have mine. It was a gift from my wife almost immediately after we got married. A simple 22" portable plastic/metal handheld box. Prior to that box, I had never had a box...always would just carry tools in random boxes.

I'll never get rid of it, far too much sentimental value and it's held up surprisingly well!

I still have my first box. It's a three drawer rally box that I bought used in '80. I have no idea who made it. The nameplate was missing. It turns out that a Snap-on nameplate fits perfectly. I powdercoated it in 50% gloss black in '84 and it still looks great.

I also have my second box. It's a Mac MB9200 that I bought in '80 or '81.

Mine is a Craftsman top box, was my graduation gift from my mom, and a nice set of Krateur tools in 1972, they went to work with me, 5 days after graduation, at Banning Dodge and Bob's Gulf outside DC.

It went to Capitol Raceway, several homes, fixed many girlfriends cars, my 6-pack Cuda and more. Like Zkling above, for me, it holds more memories than tools. Still sits on my shelf in this home's garage and gets used weekly, at least.

Will keep it until, I die, then it goes to my son with all the other tools I got since then.

I went to Capitol Raceway 1972 - 1974 timeframe and used to see the Bob Banning FC at the Funny Car events. Always a good time. Was down through that part of town back in the fall.

Still have my first carry box, one of grandpas two drawer style, not sure the manufacturer, drawers don't latch closed, has a sun diagnostic tools sticker on top. Got a new sticker waiting for the refurb.
Also still have my craftsman bottom box I bought when I was 15.

I do, craftsman26 stack got it for my 16th birthday, which means its 10 years old now! I had it totally stuffed until I bought second box to relieve the 26 stack. a craftsman 40 top and bottom combo. Had that for two years and traded it for my krl722. I will probably keep the 722 forever. The craftsman I might give to my dad, he only has a little hand carry craftsman.

I kept mine, A Popular Mechanics branded top box. I gave it to my son and he loves that it was mine. I guess I need to tell him that it was a Christmas present from my parents when I was about 16. I am sure that will mean something to him.

I still have mine. I was smart, and even at 16, knew i was gonna be doing this for awhile. So i got a 9 drawer top Craftsman box. A year or so later i bought a bottom. Then down the road, i got the matching Craftsman center. The set is still my primary box 17 years later.

The mismatched box next to it is a Kennedy bottom i got for free curbside, with a smaller beginner Craftsman box i got as a gift awhile back.

I still have mine also. I got a 26" wide 5 drawer craftsman project center for Christmas in 92. I still use it to this day to hold plumbing, electrical, and some marine tools I have. Craftsman is a very popular box for gifts it seems. To bad they aren't made the same as they used to.

Yup, have mine also. Bought a 26" craftsman top and bottom in the early - mid 90's when I got my first garage. When I upgraded, I kept it around because it was worth more than I could sell it for. Glad I did, it's solid to this day. Just don't like the detent drawer closures but I've lived with the so long, complaining about them is too routine to do anything about.

I also still have the craftsman roll cab and top box I was given on my 16th birthday with a big number 16 and my initials on the inside of the lid.
