As the title say. Does anyone know the reason why some carts are designed that way?

Better viewing, pushing angle for the controls. Was just using mine earlier to weld the exhaust back on the Charger. Would be kind of a hassle to have to bend over and see the settings if it was level.

^ ^ ^ Seriously now . . . . . this.

Also better angle for wire feed to spool out and not get kinked.

It also helps stop it from bouncing off the cart if it's not strapped down.

Angle mounting provides for the proper orientation of transformer coils in relation to the earths magnetic field to minimize phase cancellation.

Where is my welder in this picture ?

Does it matter if my welder is inverter based?

In the beginning the welding cart front was built in America where we use the standard measurement system. The back was built in Europe where the metric system rules. The numbers were the same the distance was not.

Unfortunately somewhere in the history of welding cart production the original plans were lost. All they had were bicontinent welding carts. Copies were made. Assuming no mistakes had ever been made, a mistake became the correct way.

And that my friends is why welding carts are tilted .

I bet if you look you will find the cart was made in China and the welder the good old USA.
If you set a HF welder on that same cart it will appear to be level.

Nothing out of China works like it should.

Winner....this and that is why you always need a permit. This wouldn't happen if the proper government inspection was performed. Besides...there are fees involved...and clearly they haven't been paid or this travesty would have been prevented.

The idiots and ingenuity on this site still amazes me....

Agree on seeing controls and since many welds are done on a bench or table , the MIG gun will be used above bench height. The cable at the machine will have a longer sweep with machine on angle. This will allow wire to feed easier then a TIGHTER 90 bend.

My welding cart puts the MIG up at about chest level and is level. The TIG lives under that, and can be level or angled. It's on a pivot. I'm not worried about it tipping with two 125 cf bottles on the back of the cart. The cart I made for Dad was made so the welder could be angled however it worked best. So when working under the car, it could tilt down. A lip on front and back keeps it from sliding off.

My welder sits flat on it's factory (Hobart) cart. It means that I have to get down on my knees and tilt my head back to get my glasses to adjust to where I can read the controls. It would have been better to tilt the welder.
