I get it if your paying for the labor. Saves a lot of time.
Wind River Timber Frame. Local here in SW Co., but travel all over, Texas, Alaska. Great to work with. Allan is owner. He turned me onto a very slick passive floor set up using 8x16 CMU also.Hey Copymutt, what timber frame company did you use? We are going to build one in the next year or two in TN. Just curious on your experience.
The issues we were made aware of by our builder mostly involved the exterior sheathing on the roof if it wasn't properly ventilated. We are doing a "conventional" truss package on the roof so we don't have to worry about those issues. We will be putting agricultural sturdy rib steel on the roof and are taking the extra step of putting a 1x4 between the roof sheathing and roof steel so there is a little bit of ventilation space between the roof and the tin.Several, maybe many years ago, I remember hearing/reading about moisture issues with SIPs. Have those issues been sorted out?
Hopefully doing something in the spring.
